A Wednesday Walk through the industrial port

Hello walkers and friends!

We like to walk, stroll through different paths, routes and areas, discover landscapes and panoramas and move on. But we don't always go to the same places, we have our favorite views, where we relax and are happy but there is much more, and sometimes you have to change.

We go to other destinations, sometimes without knowing, and we get lost, discovering new environments and other times we do know what is there although we don't usually go there, but sometimes yes, we have to go even if it is to change.

It's good to see other things, streets and places, they can also be interesting, otherwise, somehow, it just depends on how we look around us.

And I have done the same, instead of turning where I always have, I have gone in another direction, towards the area that does not seem the most beautiful a priori but that also shows us a lot and attracts our attention. This is the area of the industrial port in Sagunto, Spain. An area that historically has had a lot of life, there was a lot of work because in addition to the port that continues, the steel and industrial sector, when it existed here, in general was very powerful.

Now we walk and we continue to see some large buildings, warehouses, recreational premises, and from above the birds contemplate the views, looking at the sea...

But if we turn and look we will see the highlights, it could almost be a kind of modern industrial design monument, but in reality it is historical, it is Blast Furnace No. 2 (Alto Horno nº 2), which was used for casting materials.

There are those who say that it should be demolished but it remains, I think closed, as a Historical-Industrial Heritage of the area. In fact, there is a lot of this type of heritage in small corners, some rooms and I think some museum is underway...
And the truth is that it draws our attention if we take a closer look at the top, and closely observe an old rail along which the wagons with the materials to be melted would surely go, vestiges of work from bygone eras.

But we cross and return to the present, to the large cranes that move heavy loads in the port, in the restricted area, and an open area where now in summer there will be parties and music, but meanwhile, we look at the small light blue flowers that contrast wonderfully with all that industrial environment.

And behind the bushes, more memories of another past, a beautiful building that was a large industrial warehouse (I imagine for storage) but as I walk around I imagine it renovated as a beautiful hotel, a nightclub or a local house of culture as it seems what some said...

We go past and between palm trees that are always almost everywhere, that give a touch of life to that dead and abandoned past that we hope will come back to life one day, but meanwhile, while we walk, we enjoy the views, different, with a bucolic, old charm, from a harsh, industrial past that grows old with the passage of time but remains, resists and becomes a witness to our steps, through that area where we never go, but where today, with interest and curiosity, we also walk through...
