Wednesday Walk - Is it Burra or BurG
I'm giddy with excitement to actually have several #Wednesdaywalk posts to share with all of @tattoodjay's walkers for a few weeks, because of my amazing trip with @samsmith1971 and @penderis! We went to the UK for 2 weeks and on this lovely walk - we were heading into Edinburgh!
So, if you are American and unaware, hehehe you are probably pronouncing that like Pittsburgh - with an emphasis on the URG. hahaha But... if you'd like to sound like a proper native - you say Edinboro... or more like Edinbra. oh! Just have @tengolotodo say it for you! hahaha!!
We took the train from Sam's house into Edinburgh - and it happened to be such a perfect day! Not too cold, we were able to really enjoy walking all around - but here, we have a lovely scene from the train as we were passing over a bridge! Isn't this such a beautiful angle?

I have another one that I'll zoom in on from this angle too! Coming right up hehehe

Isn't this a neat perspective looking down? I'm not exactly sure what we're looking at, but there are so many castley looking things everywhere in the UK! Even if its not a castle, it looks like one! So, I think this looks like an amazing place to live so lets call it Castle Dreem. hehehe We were traveling in the train, and I just kept looking all around at neat things to snap! So some of the things we see today will just be for your viewing pleasure! and some will have more details!
Once we arrived in the city, it was time to start wandering around and taking it all in! Here is looking back at the train station that we just left!

Big cities usually feel very similar to me - but this one was different. It was big - but the architecture made it feel very elegant and dignified. I loved seeing all fine details and beautiful stonework that makes up buildins - no matter if they are shops or castles - you can see the workmanship had pride and creativity!

See what I mean? Doesn't this look like it's just an illustration in a book! It's just so picture perfect! I even love the gold arched lettering on The Scotsman! Beautiful design everywhere!

Here we are across the way, looking up to Edinburgh Castle! It seemed like it would take a long time to get there, but it went surprisingly fast!
Before we head in that direction though, lets take a look at some more beautiful architecture! Isn't it magnificent? Look at those incredible spires and arches! I can't believe that people built this so long ago with such precision and artistry!

And another angle... ( I think I like this angle even better)

And quite possibly the BEST angle!! Doesn't that just look majestic!

But now, it was time to head up the cobblestone streets and curve around all the shops to head "to the cah-stle!!!" hehehe

Between the shops, they had all these tiny alleyways that just beckoned you to come near and see what was hidden inside them!! Some more shops off the main road!

One of these people loved posing for pictures, one did not. hehehe I will let you decide which one was always happy to turn and say cheese when I called for a photo op!! hehehe (P.S. I love this picture!)

This guy was a street performer and yep - he did his job well because he pulled us into his act for 20 minutes, as the wind kicked up and we got cold!!! hahaha But he did a fantastic job, and entertained us - and at the end I got a picture with him! hehe

Walking closer to the Castle and the St. Giles Cathedral! and.. dear old Adam Smith! Aye, Adam! Ye were a good man!! 😄

I love getting really close to the buildings and angling my camera up so that I can get a different perspective with it towering over me. It makes it feel so much more intense and intimidating! hehe

The Royal Mile is the center of Old Town Edinburgh and will end with us reaching Edinburgh Castle. It's actually not an English mile - it's a Scottish mile, of course, which is a bit longer than our miles!

At long last, we've made it to the Caaaaahstle!!! hehe It's quite beautiful, and though we didn't go inside to actually tour it, it was awesome to walk around and be in its presence. Don't you find that some places have a bit of a "presence" about them? I do! It's almost like it wants to tell you its story! hehehe but no. Tell it from a distance, because we have other places to see, and things to eat! LOL

Heading back down the Royal Mile - and off to find more interesting things, and sustenance!

No, no, no, no, no! This is not the sustenance we were seeking! heheh but Sam was very curious to hear all about this little bird! Why? Because it hails from South Africa! Just like her and Pen! hehehehe. Let's get a better look at this little guy, shall we?

Adorable, right? Look at the cute little "beard" that's covering his beak! hheehe And he seemed to be just fine posing for pictures! I suppose its easy when you know who is buttering your bread! LOL

The weather today was really gorgeous. I loved the drastic skies and the beautiful bursts of light coming through the clouds behind the castle in the distance! Striking - right? Simply a glorious day! This was one of my favorite days! As it got darker, we finally found our way to this little Mexican place - and who knew that there would be TASTY Mexican food - in Scotland??? I actually got lamb nachos. I know- I know. lamb nachos? It was to die for!!!! So delicious!!!! And I'm not really sure if this picture looks appetizing or not. hahahaha You know sometimes you can't tell?? Well - trust me, it was delish!

And after great conversation, warm cafe, and happy bellies - it was time to head back to the train and make our way back home. It was a crisp, evening walk with favorite friends! But - we had to take one final parting shot of the Cahhhhhstle!

Yeah it's not the best light .. hehe but I still thoght it was a cool shot! hehehe I love how they have the lights flooding up the face of the castle! so pretty! no... i mean the Cahhhhstle! lol
We took the train home, and made our way back to the living room, and it was time to games! For this night, we played Mexican Train Dominoes! And the Dominator won. I can't tell you who the Dominator is - but you can see if you can figure it out from the picture! hehehehe

Hope you enjoyed this Wednesday Walk!!! I sure did love sharing it with you! If you enjoyed this - why don't you join @tattoodjay's community too!! Just upload some pictures of your latest walk - tell us what we're seeing and get us excited - and share it on #wednesdaywalk!!

Same with Middleborough. And they don't pause for syllables, either, dyanoteeyemean? And temp checks, can't forget those, yea? Their accent sounds like a metronome so it's hard to find the end of the sentence, yea? So they say yea periodically during conversation, yea?
And umbrellas, yea? One for each hand yea but everyone knows that. UK foodstuffs though, SO cheap, yea!!
You can get a six pack of apples in England for the price of one stateside.
oh my gosh - mushrooms are $6.99 a pound here - they were 1 pound for a pound there! WHAAAAAAAAAT?? SERIOUSLY what the heck! i want mushrooms for a dollar a pound yea? hahahahaha
