A Flower Tunnel
Time rolls by just as fast, and I find myself again in the position of choosing a walk to share with you. As walking now seems to be the main activity outside the household, I find it hard to choose between the almost daily options, such as when we walk with our granddaughter in the nearby park or on the neighborhood streets, and...
... walks, also repetitive, in the relatively remote center of the city.
As the walk in the neighborhood has nothing spectacular, except for the figures that Ilinca, our granddaughter, makes, but these are interesting only for us, the grandparents, who fall on our backs at everything the little girl does, I chose to show you again parts of downtown Bucharest, with some snapshots on special events.
Most of the time, we start our walk through the main entrance to the old center, which is how I consider it, via Lipscani Street. Then follows a walk among terraces and chairs, more or less empty, the earlier ones being the emptier.
Being morning, the terraces are waiting for their customers, and tourists are taking pictures, just like me. I love to photograph people when they take pictures, it gives me the feeling that I belong to a community.
Every time I visit the old center, I go to see my favorite street, a short yet quiet street, as it features only two terraces, but also a monastery, Stavropoleos Street.
I like this street because it ends at the CEC Palace, one of my favorites.
Of course, we then chose a special street for the walk, which separates the National Bank from the Dacia Palace, where the Art Safari exhibitions are hosted. It is the same Lipscani street where we started the walk.
Left - National Bank...Right - Dacia Palace.
Art Safari is a new concept that presents art by gathering several exhibitions in the exact location, the Dacia Palace, for three months. After three months, other exhibitions are prepared, and the cycle repeats.
As it is early spring, a flower tunnel has been set up in front of the Palace.
Passing this floral tunnel, I noticed a group of people with flags, quite agitated. Then I realized what was going on. This was the headquarters of the Electoral Authority, and the candidates for the Romanian presidency had just filed their candidacies. As patriots and sovereignists are in fashion now, they brought their supporters to draw attention to their candidates.
As the gendarmes stopped us from accessing beyond this point, our walk was cut short, and we turned back, gazing again at the tunnel of flowers on the other side...
Unfortunately, the life of this tunnel of flowers was short-lived. In the afternoon and evening of the day, there were protests and violence by sovereignist supporters, which led to clashes with the gendarmes, and the burning of this beautiful symbol of spring!
We headed home by taking the Victory Avenue route, our favorite avenue, and stopped only at a small flower shop that always has gorgeous flowers.
I received a gift on this occasion. A florist's inviting reflection, a silhouette with blue flowers, my favorite color!
I've often used the "favorites" formula. Favorite places, favorite streets, favorite buildings. Perhaps I have repeated myself too many times, but this was meant to emphasize the areas where I enjoy walking.
I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words.
A wise saying goes that an image is worth a thousand words.
Everything depends on the beholder.
Make a point of looking around and up to see what you can find to get shots of that; otherwise, you may miss it..
This is one of the recommendations made by @tattoodjay for those who prefer walking and are used to sharing impressions and photos in his community, Wednesday Walk, every Wednesday, like this one today.
The place is very nice and the flower tunnel is very beautiful, historical city looks old building. Thank you friends. Happy days.
Happy days, thank you!
That final photo.... what a marvel!!!! We belong to the community of photographers and street photographers, I think that's what it's called and it's nice to capture moments, like the ones you've taken this time, beautiful walk!
Thank you!
If the photos weren't well received here, then I wouldn't be here either.

The flowers tunnel it's really super lovely 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Yes, it is. Too bad it only lived a very short time.
What a lovely tunnel. I wonder why they put it there, perhaps for decoration :)
Yes, for decoration and an invitation to visit the exhibition.
