Wandering through streets and parks amongst cats and birds.

The most beautiful walks are always out in nature, which renews my soul, calms my mind, recharges my energy and brings joy to my life. And if there are kittens and other animals along the way, it’s even better.

I like to wander through different streets; it’s great mental exercise to keep changing direction, memorising new routes and then changing again. It’s the best exercise for the brain: learning new things, in whatever way, and in this case, exploring new paths, travelling and even getting lost to find oneself again is a very good way.

The brain is a muscle and we must exercise it just like the body; the best way is to learn new things, of course trying to enjoy them, not to suffer whilst learning.

This walk allowed me to see some spectacular buildings on the street I chose, on my way to a park. The architecture is wonderful and I love it when those buildings are made with exposed brickwork.

Some structures were simply a doorway, a portal, as if there had once been a market there. Whenever I walk and see things like that, I imagine a lot; I love imagining, another good exercise for the brain.

Then I spotted the local library and couldn’t resist taking a photo, it’s wonderful. It’s the José María Hinojosa Public Library. Every neighbourhood or district has one. I’m glad that, despite all the technology around us these days, they still exist and that there are people who still read paper books. What wonderful architecture, too. It’s the most beautiful library I’ve seen so far.

Next to it is a small square, a space where children can play ball, for example. This sort of neighbourhood has that family-friendly atmosphere I love, away from the city centre. It’s a very small neighbourhood called Colonia Santa Inés, within the large district of Teatinos. This district is very big; I hope to explore it all.

And just a few steps away, I came across the building of the Málaga Nativity Scene Association. Another wonderful building where the style of the door and windows really stand out. I simply had to take a photo.

20260226_180557.jpg

I carried on walking a little further, looking at the local houses, until I reached a wide avenue leading to a beautiful park, on a cloudy day, but no less beautiful for it.

There, this duck was waiting for me and told me he wanted to be my guide, but there were also many other animals and the paths were well signposted. He was very kind. It’s just that I talk to animals.

20260226_180852.jpg

On the path I chose, among the many in the park, I came across lots of cats hiding amongst the plants and bushes; some of them were very friendly and I was able to get quite close to them to take their photos.

I spent quite a while on that long path; there were lots of cats, some of whom were just passing by, and I managed to snap a quick photo of them.

Looking across the path, some bushes were beginning to sprout reddish shoots, which would turn bright green as summer approached. It is a large garden laid out in the shape of a maze, and it is wonderful to wander through it.

There were lots of people there that day because the birds were wandering about and playing, including ducks and pigeons. People couldn’t stop taking photos of them. It was a very funny scene.

But what I liked most was looking closely at all that hedgerow with its beautiful colour contrasting with the ground and the green grass.

When I recount my walks here, it’s very relaxing for me, because I feel as though I’m reliving those very steps and admiring nature once more, breathing in the fresh air and being in the company of the little animals.

Some kittens hidden among the bushes kept staring at me. What were they thinking? There goes a slightly mad woman taking photos of everything she sees.

I love the contrast of colours, and look… there’s red, brown, different shades of green, little blue flowers, and of course the cats that stand out against the landscape. It’s wonderful, nature never ceases to amaze me, and that marvellous maze, which I couldn’t take my eyes off.

The path turned to the right and there I came across a park full of olive trees; I love that colour too. My friend who was with me told me about the colour of the leaves and how they vary from one olive tree to another, as she used to work in the countryside and in everything to do with olives, harvesting them to sell and make olive oil. I love listening to her; she knows a great deal about it.

In the distance lay the maze of bushes.

20260226_181608.jpg

But in front of me appeared another path, one I followed and stopped on for a long time because what I found there was wonderful.

Beautiful views and many birds swimming and flying across the large lake.

I also came across this species of duck, known as Muscovy ducks or domestic ducks; the scientific name is Cairina moschata.

They seemed to be the kings of the place; they made no sound, but they certainly stood out from the rest. There were also many pigeons and several turtles in the water.

I spent quite a while there, taking in the scenery and the beautiful lake; the air was so fresh, and I was in the company of all those birds. It was a lovely walk, a very relaxing one.

Thank you very much for joining me today on this Wednesday walk. Warm regards to you all. See you soon.

Good morning—or perhaps good evening by now... I’m not sure when you’ll be reading this comment. A very relaxing stroll, and one filled with... animals. I also really liked the red color of that hedge, and the contrast it created with the green and other colors. As for the architecture, the exposed-brick doorway at the beginning of the post is absolutely stunning.

Have a wonderful day!
