Tour of the “Paseo del estudiante” in Barrancabermeja - A place that came back to life.

Yesterday I was accompanying my wife to a medical appointment, we had a long wait from 2:00 pm until almost 7:00 pm waiting for the attention, but it doesn't matter after all it was worth the wait, but I'm not here to talk about health or anything like that, I just wanted to mention this to contextualize how I arrived to a place here in the city of Barrancabermeja that was abandoned until a few months ago.

This place is known as “Paseo del estudiante”, its name is due to the fact that in the area there are universities and high schools where students used to socialize and share in this area because at that time it was very nice and cozy.

When I say that the place was once very beautiful, I do not mean that today it is not, but there was a time when this place was taken over by street dwellers and became a place contaminated by large amounts of garbage and a den of drug use by these people, generating dissatisfaction and insecurity for the inhabitants and so it happened for a long time.

As you can see today they have recovered it, expelling the street dwellers that had taken away its essence, its green areas are almost 100% recovered, the pavement in good condition, and its surroundings have become not only a walking area, but a place to taste the palate with excellent food, although they are commonly known as junk food (hamburgers, hot dogs, fried foods and others) to which it is not recommended to eat in excess but on occasion.

Finally I want to show you this picture I took while I was waiting for my wife to leave the appointment, this was before going for a tour of the “Paseo del estudiante”, I was delighted to see how the sun began to hide in the distance on the horizon of the city amid the bustle of cars and pedestrians on the highway.
