I Am #AliveAndThriving Today! || #IAmAliveChallenge || Daily Off-Grid Jungle Journal Entry: Day #500 - Don't Try to Fix What Ain't Broken! - GaiaYoga Gardens, Lower Puna, Far East Big Island, Hawai'i - Saturday, December 9, 2023

I live barefooted and naked, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i. I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙

Over the past week I've been periodically mentioning the rather heated discussions taking place at the moment on the possibility of removing the reward pool from layer 1, and the slightly-less-intense conversations around the idea of lowering the APR for HBD in Savings, and that my fellow Hivers/Hivians should be aware of how the witnesses for whom they vote stand on these issues, and change their votes accordingly. I do not agree with, or support either of these proposed ideas, and most especially not the removal of the reward pool, as I feel that such an action would result in the end of our beloved Hive. It's proposing making radical changes to 'fix' perceived issues on Hive, however these modifications are far larger than the 'problems', and would for all intent and purposes be throwing the baby out with the bath water, or burning the house down to get rid of termites.

As @achim03 so eloquently expressed in his To attract Dapps and Businesses to Hive we need not more but less changes post, if we as a blockchain community actually have the desire and intention of attracting more people and busineses to Hive, making radical changes to how Hive functions is not the way to do it. Such huge changes do not instill trust in people, newcomers or even those that have been around a while; quite the opposite! Anyone who is looking to make a long-term home for him/herself, or his/her business, on Hive wants to know that the foundation is solid, and that how things function will continue to do so in a dependable fashion, now and for many years to come. From my perspective, we want to create more ways to generate income on Hive, not fewer.

One of the big reasons that Hive has my strong commitment, dedication, and loyalty is exactly because it is so amazing and so reliable at the same time. No, Hive is not perfect, and yes it can and will be improved over time, but it is far from broken, and it's nowhere near as disfunctional as those who are proposing the removal of the reward pool would suggest.

When we have things that work pretty well, not perfect, but definitely in a reasonably functional manner, we tweak and refine them over time, as we observe how our small changes affect the whole system. We don't make radical changes, as that has the very real potential of making the whole system go horribly awry, and even to a point of not being able to be recovered. Nope, I'm not down for that.

I know of many people here on Hive that, either in whole or part, depend on what they make here to pay for real-world goods and services, so if this ridiculous idea of removing the reward pool were actually implemented, the effects in the lives of many would be quite catastrophic. Hive is a very practical and real way for people worldwide, to rise above and surmount their local economic conditions, myself included. I want to make that easier, not harder.

I left the Flow House yesterday, Saturday, around 3PM, to first take photos for this post, and then to put my attention on land work. My first task was to get my machete to collect two wheelbarrows full of the foliage from a small gunpowder tree that Ano had cut down, for the next morning's (today's) cow-milking food. After I had that done, I worked with Ano, Austin (a new Norwegian fellow who's staying here for a while), and @aukuna, to move the moveable modular sheep fencing into the Durian Orchard, to put around various fruit trees and bananas, to protect them from Daisy the cow. She'll be moved there shortly, as the pasture where she is now has been mostly eaten down. We worked on that until just about sunset.

After working, I took a shower, strained out kefir for my kefir-honey-cinnamon-cacao blend, got leftover food for myself from the Landing fridge, got my kitty friend some food, then I made my way back to my lava-perch sanctuary, the Flow House, to begin my evening round of Hive tasks and catching up on my notifications, which I was able to complete just before 11PM. I did a short round of token management, then I went to bed a little before 11:30PM. I slept well until about 5AM, and not being able to sleep more, I did another round of token management, I completed @benthomaswwd's @heartbeatonhive contest, then I made an attempt at sleep once again. I did seemingly sleep for a bit longer, then I got out of bed just after 8:30AM to go make my superfood fire coffee.

Today, being Sunday, will be mostly devoted to Hive, getting all important tasks done, catching up on all notifications, doing a thorough round of token management, and then compiling the token data for, and writing my 80th Sunday Weekly Hive Goals and Progress Update, which I'll publish later tonight, as early as I'm able. I do have to take some time in my day to take more photos for tomorrow's version of this post, collect cow food, strain out and blend kefir, and make myself some food. Hopefully I'll be able to do that fairly quickly. The time is now just about 12:30PM, so a great time to end this post, so that I can get to my important Hive tasks and catching up on notifications.
