Bells
Hello, in Mexico we know this flower as "campanillas" (bells) It comes in various colors (white, blue, purple), but be careful! They are toxic https://www.picturethisai.com/es/toxic/Ipomoea_purpurea.html , so under no circumstances should they be ingested.
They are beautiful flowers that mostly grow naturally in vacant lots or perhaps in some gardens. The photograph was taken a few years ago in the city of Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

I think what you got there is a foxglove, a digitalis, not a ipomoea.
The lesson?
Don't take peoples' word for things, they could be wrong.
They did get the 'poisonous' right, but they say that about ipomoea just to scare the kids away.
Thanks for your information, greetings.
