Un saludo muy grande a todos los amantes del verano y de sus cálidas vibraciones.

Hasta hace sólo unos pocos días, me acompañó la honda impresión de que este año no llagaría el verano a Madrid. Que, quizás, abandonado el hemisferio sur, la estación más calurosa del año se estaba yendo de vacaciones a otro planeta o a otra dimensión alejándose de aquí, del norte.

Incluso, me imaginé que el verano podría estar sufriendo una crisis existencial o un hartazgo de tanta monotonía… de ser verano, de siempre andar dando calor.

Aunque las flores de colores y la llegada de nuevos vecinos, como algunas aves, parecían presagios seguros de que los meses cálidos se acercaban. Sin embargo, lo cierto ha sido que la primavera se vistió de frío y lluvia, mostrando un alma casi de otoño.

Si bien el clima no acompañaba, las plantas y las aves se comportaban como todas las primaveras, mostrando sus mejores colores unas, las otras construyendo sus nidos. Como si sabiamente supieran que al final todo llega…

Y de pronto… llegó el calor, mucho, mucho calor. Las temperaturas se elevaron hasta su lugar habitual, las sombras cobraron vida y se las puede ver andando de in lugar a otro y el transporte público se volvió tropical… en definitiva, por fin es verano.

En Madrid, el verano es la estación del año que ofrece la oportunidad de disfrutar de experiencias que no son posibles el resto del año. Por ejemplo, se puede pasear por exposiciones y museos sin el acompañamiento habitual de grandes multitudes.

Hoy viajaremos al verano de 2025 (¿Qué lejos, verdad?). A una exposición al aire libre que tuve el placer de visitar aproximadamente hace unos 12 meses.

Llegué a ella por casualidad, en realidad salí de casa con la intención de ir a otra que en teoría estaría expuesta en la Sala Canal de Isabel II, sita en la Calle de Sta Engracia. Cuando llegué la sala estaba cerrada… Quiero pensar que por cosas relacionadas con el calor leí mal la fecha de apertura de la muestra. Había que esperar a septiembre.

Sin embargo, un cartel indicaba que muy cerca de allí, en el Parque Santander, podría ver una parte de la obra del fotógrafo Ricardo Cases.

I stumbled upon it by chance; actually, I left home intending to go to another exhibition that was supposedly on display at the Sala Canal de Isabel II, located on Calle de Sta Engracia.

When I arrived, the gallery was closed… I’d like to think that, perhaps because of the heat, I misread the exhibition’s opening date. I’d have to wait until September.

However, a poster indicated that very close by, in Santander Park, I could see a selection of works by the photographer Ricardo Cases.

Si la Sala Canal de Isabel II, según mi imaginario, me hubiera esperado vacía de visitantes y climatizada, en el parque me aguardaba una temperatura de unos 40ºC.

Lo bueno, que la llegar no había gente, ni siquiera los típicos runners que pone el ayuntamiento en todos los parques. Como compañía sólo encontré un gato.

Una vez en el parque, rodeado de colores y soledad, me esforcé en buscar el comienzo de la exposición la exposición misma. No había carteles que indicaran nada, ni siquiera un vigilante al que pregunté me pudo decir otra cosa que había visto fotografías por el parque.

El calor era horrible, caminé y caminé, y de vez en cuando, llegaba el premio de encontrar lo buscado.

Poco a poco fui encontrando diferentes piezas de Grafitis y falleras, que es nombre de la exposición. Una colección de fotografías muy interesante que también me trajo muy buenos recuerdos.

Aunque alguien añadió al título de esta colección de fotografías el subtítulo: 2016-2025 (probablemente el calor volvió a afectar a alguien), las fotografías con toda seguridad pertenecen a finales de los años ochenta o principios de los 90,s.

El título Grafitis y falleras es muy descriptivo de lo que iba a ver: grafitis y falleras.

Valencia ha sido uno de los centros de la música popular en España, desde la más tradicional, como sus populares bandas de música, hasta la más vanguardista.

Sin duda en los años 80,s y 90,s toda la zona de Levante se convirtió en uno de los grandes focos de difusión de Reggae y Hip-hop en España.

Y ahí estaban en el parque las falleras, la tradición, junto a la modernidad, el grafiti.

Todavía desconozco si logré capturar todas las imágenes o faltó alguna. También, quizás por el sofocante calor, la sangre espesa y, como consecuencia, una reducido riego sanguíneo en el cerebro, al organizador o organizadora, no se le ocurrió que sin un catálogo, sin ninguna indicación en el parque, sin ningún mapa con la localización de las fotografías…. Es muy complicado visitar una exposición como ésta, al aire libre.

En realidad fue una bonita tarde. Mi confusión inicial se transformó en un estupendo paseo entre naturaleza y arte.

Actually, it was a lovely afternoon. My initial confusion turned into a wonderful stroll through nature and art.

Este año ya estoy anotando las exposiciones interesantes y gratuitas a las que poder visitar en estos meses, en los que las madrileñas y madrileños huyen del calor de Madrid.

Por ejemplo, en el edificio de Telefónica se expondrá, durante todo el verano (de esto tengo la total seguridad), Robert Frank & Los Americanos. Un edificio que además de ofrecer un oasis de frescor durante esta estación… en agosto estará vacío de visitantes.

Sólo me queda darle la bienvenida al verano… que además de calor, nos regala con arte y tranquilidad.

You are very right @enraizar, summer brings us this great thing, like outdoor exhibitions so one can enjoy the art without a crowd. Though, ok, one should survive the heat of 40 degrees Celsius. And concerts are also here in summer in streets, squares, parks... ;)

But poor falleras, imagine them, standing in their dresses all summer long in that heat for the park visitors... and who knows since what year... I mean, waiting for so long to finally be rescued by you and brought to the Summer Vibes community. 😉
