Kolkata: A city of stories, art, and tradition.

It has been a while, since I went on a travel trip. Busy schedule, personal occupancy, finances etc kept me away from doing what I love mist. Travelling alwsys alow me to explore the unknown avenues and view life from a complete new dimension. My last travel trip was made in the month of November. When I went on to explore the City of Kolkatta.

Being a neighbouring state, I had been to here multiple times, but this trip was special as it was planned for sight seeing and visiting the various tourist spot within the city. Kolkata is known as the "City of Joy" for its indomitable spirit and the warmth and friendliness of its people. The former capital of British India, boasts a deep and fascinating history, evident in its colonial-era buildings and museums. The city's unique blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy creates a special atmosphere that captivates visitors. Compared to other major Indian cities, Kolkata offers relatively low costs for accommodation, food, and transportation, making it an attractive option for budget travelers. Being only few hours away from my place, it is a complete new whole world, with people speaking Bengali, and you may find ypurself alone in the crowd. But tha ka to my local friend, I did not took too long to be part of it. My trip was mainly focused on to visit Mayapur. I heard about it from many people, which intrigued me to take a visit.

Mayapur is not so popular on any tourist list. However it is heaven for ISKCON follower. Mayapur is primarily known as the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, a significant figure in Gaudiya Vaishnavism, a branch of Hinduism. It's also the headquarters of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) and a major pilgrimage site for Vaishnavas. Mayapur is a place of great spiritual and cultural significance, with various festivals and events held throughout the year, particularly during Gaura Purnima and Janmashtami. I saw many foreigners taking up the culture and enjoying chanting "Hare Rama, Hare Krishna".

There were many photographs of the place, all pointing towards the gaudilya community. It was again a unique and strange place that is coming up in Kolkatta. Mayapur is also known for the Temple of Vedic Planetarium, a massive temple complex under construction, which will be one of the largest Hindu temples in the world. Mayapur is spread out is huge land. Mayapur's area is approximately 700 acres. This land, which is in the names of individuals, is being amalgamated so that ISKCON can officially own it all. The land is valued at approximately 300 million US dollars, according to a report. Each part of the mayapur is dedicated to lord Krishna.

On my anybtfip, I always like going out in public. Rather than keeping the trip private, I like to explore the people, places, local cuisine and culture. Kolkata has everything to make people wonder about the existence. While the city still has the Yellow taxis to hire on road, it has the age old tram in existence. People still queieng up to take ferry ride to cross the river at a very minimal price. And the authentic dishes can make you crave everything. Especially the sweet dishes. While Rasagula is still famous it has many kkre item to try out. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of it.

Kolkata is a melting pot of cultures, with influences from Bengali traditions, colonial legacies, and a vibrant modern scene. This diversity manifests in its cuisine, festivals, and art, offering a constant stream of new experiences. Kolkata's blend of old and new, its vibrant culture, and its ever-evolving nature make it a destination that keeps surprising and delighting travelers with each visit. This is why tye city is called as "City of Joy".

Well the trip is still over 6 months, my next trip is due. I am raring to make a travel trip st point of time. This time I am looking towards to go in the Lao of nature. Either to hill station or to any beach side. Will looking to explore the all new avenues one more time.

In good faith - Peace!!

I really enjoyed your writing, and the photos. Oh, it's not very common for me to see people hugging cows. Nor painted cows.
I knew about Kolkata, but you have rounded out my idea of it. Happy travels!
