Traffic lights without lights to mark a path | PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape Photography Round 120 [EN/ES]

Good morning, photography lovers on #photofeed!

Walking through my city evokes countless emotions when contemplating its diverse contrasts.

The urban landscape is varied in terms of its styles, state of construction, and strategic layout, if you want to interpret it that way.

Today, attracted by the contest that @photofeed is offering us this week, I look up and pause to consider the symbolic, through the richness that black and white photography offers me, to show you a central corner of the city where I live.

It's a very significant corner, where what was once a vital, active traffic light stands, contrasting with three very different buildings. Each one carries a symbolic meaning that I hope you'll perceive, or at least comment on, depending on your own opinion.

Styles that converge and interact unintentionally, like diverse clouds under the same sky and space.

Styles like Neoclassical, with Romanesque influences, Modernism from the first half of the 20th century, and the eclecticism that plays between Art Deco and what has been preserved and what has been destroyed, make me sigh silently and turn to a blank piece of paper to write...

City of balconies exposed to the elements,
of blank clouds and orphaned columns,
of traffic lights without lights to mark a path...
Oh! City!
If someone ever told me you would hurt,
I would have put my hands in the fire
along with the rust of tears that now invade me.
Oh city,
forgive me for not believing you
and trusting the buildings where a vat
was different
and now spends the night
without lights
or traffic lights
to dangle its feet
on the ledge.

Caminar por mi ciudad provoca un sinnúmero de emociones cuando se contempla en la diversidad de sus contrastes.

El paisaje urbano es variado en cuanto a sus estilos, estado constructivo y disposición estratégica si se quiere interpretar de ese modo.

Hoy, atraído por el concurso que @photofeed nos propone esta semana, levanto la mirada y me detengo en lo simbólico, a través de la riqueza que me brinda la fotografía en blanco y negro, para mostrarles una esquina céntrica de la urbe donde resido.

Es una esquina bien significativa, donde se erige lo que fuera en su momento un semáforo activo y crucial, en contraposición con tres edificaciones bien diferentes entre ellas. Todas, con una carga simbólica que espero perciban o cuanto menos me comenten, según la apreciación de cada uno de ustedes.

Estilos que convergen y dialogan sin proponérselo, como nubes diversas bajo un mismo cielo y espacio.

Estilos, como el neoclásico, con influencias románicas, el modernismo de la primera mitad del siglo XX y el eclecticismo que juega entre el art déco y lo conservado con lo derruido, provocan que suspire en silencio y me vuelque hacia un papel en blanco para escribir...

Ciudad de balcones a la intemperie,
de nubes en blanco y columnas huérfanas,
de semáforos sin luces para marcar un camino...
¡Oh! ¡Ciudad!
Si alguien me dijo alguna vez que dolerías,
hubiese puesto mis manos al fuego
junto al óxido de lágrimas que ahora me invaden.
Oh ciudad,
perdóname por no creerles
y confiar en los edificios donde una cuba
era diferente
y ahora pernocta
sin luces
ni semáforos
donde colgar los pies
en la cornisa.
