The Flower

Near my home, as I have described in previous posts, stands La Flor de Venezuela, a national monument and cultural heritage site that once served as the exhibition pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hanover, which is why it was also known as the Hanover Flower.

Inspired by Venezuela’s national flower, the orchid, and the tepuis—ancient geological formations located in the south of the country—this structure features 16 petals that, depending on weather conditions, open or close with the help of a hydraulic system, creating the illusion of blooming. At night, it is illuminated in different colors depending on the season.

As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

La Flor

En las cercanías de mi hogar, como he descrito en algunas publicaciones anteriores, se encuentra La Flor de Venezuela, un monumento nacional y patrimonio cultural que alguna vez sirvió como el pabellón de exposiciones en la Expo 2000 de Hannover, razón por la cual se le conocía también como Flor de Hannover.

Inspirado en la flor nacional de Venezuela, ls orquídea, y en los tepuyes, unas antiquísimas formaciones geológicas ubicadas al sur del país, esta estructura cuenta con 16 petálos que dependiendo de las condiciones climáticas, se abren o cierran con el auxilio de un sistema hidráulico, generando una sensación de floración, y que en las noches se ilumina de diferentes colores dependiendo de la temporada.

Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
