Portraits have always captivated me. Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph my partner, who is a flamenco dancer. This session was a practical study in light management—the foundation of every solid portrait.

My current challenge, and perhaps the hardest part, is model direction. It’s about breaking my own shyness and studying references in posing and artistic direction. Currently studying photography, my dream is to specialize in portraiture and fashion to eventually break into my ultimate passion: documentary photography.

Los retratos siempre me han llamado la atención. Hace poco tuve la oportunidad de fotografiar a mi pareja, que baila flamenco. Esta sesión fue un estudio práctico en el manejo de luces, la base de todo buen retrato.

Mi desafío actual, y quizás lo que más me cuesta, es la dirección de la modelo. Se trata de romper mi propia timidez y estudiar referentes en poses y dirección de arte. Actualmente estudio fotografía y mi sueño es especializarme en retratos y moda para eventualmente abrirme campo en mi gran pasión: la fotografía documental.

Comment on Posing: In The Guarded Dance, I worked on a full-fan pose to create a sense of barrier. For future sessions, my goal is to direct the model to hold the fan at an angle to reveal more of the face's structure while keeping the mystery. It’s a constant learning process.

Comentario sobre Pose: En The Guarded Dance, trabajé en una pose de abanico completo para crear una sensación de barrera. Para futuras sesiones, mi objetivo es dirigir a la modelo para que sostenga el abanico en ángulo para revelar más de la estructura facial manteniendo el misterio. Es un proceso de aprendizaje constante.
