This Saturday morning is not quite the same… I am the early bird, rather than the kids!

It is 6:15 and the alarm goes on… I hate it when mu Saturdays start so early, but sometimes I have to work on weekends too. I guess higher income requires some sacrifices and this is one of them. But I am not really complaining, because I will go to the build site for about an hour or two to arrange some details with the leading engineer. I just don’t like that much the fact that I have to wake up earlier then the kids on the weekends.

Luckily, coffee comes to help! I have to admit that lately I am obsessed with these anaerobic and more specially processed coffees. And the best of my patest picks is this barrel aged Colombian coffee. Even the fruity Colombia la Colombia tastes quite ordinary compared to this bomb of differetn tastes.

Of course, filter is what we go for, but I am wondering now… how would this taste on Espresso? Maybe next time I brew I will experiment on this. Today I am just filtering… An easy start of the morning is needed and will be well appreciated.

Only if you brew and try this afterwards you will be able to experience all the brilliant nuances and lyers of taste locked in these Colombian beans. Now is my moment of joy and I will appreciate it peacefully before the day starts. I am truly thankful that the kids are still sleeping, because usually they wake up earlier, before I leave home.

A couple of hours later and I am in the construction site. Although it is a working day for me, the spirits of the place feel completely different. I will take it easy today.

Working outside really feels a lot better than being closed an office. Well, offices have sine advantages too! In the great summer heat I wont be able to turn on the AC and enjoy nirmal temperatures. 30-35 degrees centigrade will not be that fun, but we still have some time until that wave kicks in. I will definitely need a high SPF protection cream in my setup to keep my skin protected by the violent radiation.

Now, let’s make a quick retrospect and go back to the last week when the Rose Festival was. I already told you about the beautiful and tasty Rose icing dessert that Niki has prepared for the celebrations. Guess what! They had another surprise in their menu.

The Kenya Karamiku AA coffee, which has notes of Raspberry, Rose and Red Grapefruit. Sounds like an interesting combo, right? And it was truly beautiful tasting coffee, especially combined with a piece of Almond cake.

The taste was like something that I have tasted a long time ago. It took me back in the days when I was just starting to explore the wonderful world of special coffee beans. There was definitely a nostalgic layer in my cup and I definitely enjoyed this a lot. The rose taste was a gentle touch to the fruitful combo of fresh citruses.

And the cake was brilliant. The nut taste is something that I like a lot in the desserts I eat, although whole peanuts on top isn’t my thing. 😁 But hazelnuts, almonds and pistachios in the cream, or in the cake pans taste amazing to me.

Now, back to work! I want to deal with my tasks now and head back home.
