The first coffee of the day is really my mood booster. How much time does it cost to start your day with a beautiful cup of coffee?

Mornings with small children are tough sometimes. It happens that some nights the sleep isn’t there at all. The kiddos tend to feel ill and have raised temperature from time to time. Sometimes they have nightmares and this really results in a very tough mornings. But however sleepy I am, and no matter how inactive my senses are, there is one thing that has become a religion for me - coffee preparation.

No matter if it’s more chocolaty, or it’s flavor is full with fruity flavors, preparing a good coffee is a must for me. Specialty coffee gives me endless world of beautiful and delightful flavors that are always enjoyed. And there is a very unique pleasure of preparing this magical potion, which will undoubtedly boost even my toughest mornings and will prepare me for the long day.

But what is required? Do you need a great deal of time to enjoy a coffee that stands out in front of other faster variations? Nescafé? Or maybe a fully automated bean to cup machine? Not my choice, not a pleasure at all.

I had some very big disputes a couple of times about the efforts and time needed to prepare a good cup of coffee. And the greatest problem for my opponents was the time needed to prepare your morning “mood booster”.

“You see, I need only a minute and my coffee is ready. I take it and drink it in the car. No time to mess with complicated machines and techniques.”

My argument always was that these bean-to-cup machines, although a great invention, cannot control entirely the process of brewing coffee and I really need a minute or two more to prepare a cup of coffee that’ll gonna be a lot more enjoyable. I always ask, “Cannot you wake up like 5 minutes earlier and maybe even have time to enjoy your morning without hurrying?”

Sometimes it’s a problem that I’ve spent a lot of money on coffee equipment, but if we make the math, all my coffee gear (about 350$) is about the price of a cheap or average coffee robot, that will deliver your fast cup of coffee…

I understand that people generally do not perceive coffee preparation and consumption like I do, but if some act is pleasurable for you why won’t you find a way to enjoy it, at least for a short moment? Your daily tasks will feel easier when your mind gets prepared and charged with positivity!

Furthermore, when I wake up I usually put some oatmeal on the stove, or prepare another breakfast for the small beasts and preparing coffee is a accompanying task. And instead of just waiting for the oats to get ready I choose to spend my time preparing the tasty cup.

And I constantly try to find a way to brew better coffee at home which will definitely bring me some additional joy. Maybe sometimes I missed a very(or not that much) critical step, maybe my grinding needs a bit more fine tuning. Maybe my espresso machine has some more features that I haven’t yet mastered. There are so many things that can be changed to get at least a little touch to the final sip. And this sip defines the way my mornings start.

I really think that even if I now stop developing my coffee preparation technique, I’ll be happy every single morning for the rest of my life, but I’m a person that will always seek for perfection in what I do.

What about you? How much time are you willing to spend in preparing your tasty cup of coffee? Do you have a preferred method for brewing it? Are you willing to wake up 10 minutes earlier for a more enjoyable start of the day?

It's nice to be able to enjoy a cup of coffee that we brewed ourselves. The enjoyment of a cup of coffee increases because in it there is a touch of our own heart.
You did that very well, Mr. @mdosev.

I'm also a coffee addict here. and I can drink it at least three times a day.
As a coffee lover, I have posted it here several times. This is my post link if you want to see it again.

I really enjoy the cool photos you share here.
Greetings, Coffee Lovers

I also have at leas 2-3 cups of coffee per day and although sometimes the coffee that I consume on the go isn’t the best, my morning cup is always special and brewed with love and dedication. Sometimes I even tend to make some filter coffee and bring it in a thermos with me along the day.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey @mdosev

I was looking forward to hearing from you.
This is a great post!
I guess a great cup of coffee is a matter of importance for you always, especially when experiencing sleepless nights.
I like that you have your good quality coffee ready so quickly. It was only when I wrote my post that it dawn on me just how important the speed at which one produces quality-tasting coffee is.

So, yes, I would wake up 1 min, 20 mins, or even 30 mins earlier just to have a decent cover, over a bad one.

The thing is the same coffee can taste so different depending on the machine it's brewed in, but I think giving some thought to the entire process of your coffee-drinking experience is important.

Usually I spend no longer than 5 minutes preparing my morning shot, so time cannot be an issue… People tend to throw the blame towards the lack of time for a lot of things, but this lack of “time” is maybe a lack of desire. If you manage your time properly, there is a plenty of it for just everything.

Yet coffee time has a special place in the everyday schedule.

and discipline too. Some people love excuses and like to have reasons to complain.

I will always make some effort to facilitate and enjoy the things that I love:)

How nice to be able to brew your own espresso at home. I hope you get to know the machine in its entirety.😁

I like how you refer to it as a coffee robot 😆
We recently got a new espresso machine so my daily coffee routine takes a little longer these days. It's totally worth it though. The coffee is much better than the drip filter coffee I drank before.

Here, in Bulgaria, people often call bean-to-cup machines as “robots”. That’s why I used this term 😁

But really, the extra time cost pays off with the extra taste. I think when you establish a solid brewing technique, you can reduce the preparation time a lot. I sometimes take a lot of unnecessary steps, but they make my experience better and more pleasurable.

Yeah I agree that the added time is worth it in the end

Thanks for the visit. It really doesn’t matter at all how much time are you spending for coffee preparations, when your coffee is well enjoyed!
