New year, new presents. I visited the Specialty Place 23 and left with a new year’s present. I like presents like this!

Happy new year to all the community members! Wish you all the best and one healthy and happy year! Let the luck always be with you and your families.

I wish my year will be a healthy ine too, unlike the end of 2023. It was a real struggle for us, with high temperatures on our kids. One of the poor buddies was more than a week with almost constant temperature, which was quite stressful and concerning for us, but luckily all the three kiddos are coming to their normal body state now.

Yesterday was the first day with some relief for me and my wife, so we decided to visit our favorite coffee shop in our city - the Specialty Place 23. We try to go there at least once a week, because apart from the excellent coffee, it is a place where we can chat joyfully with the owner - Misho ans his girl, who bakes the best pastry!

We had a fine filter with a lot of fruitful vibe in it, and also bought a bag of coffee for home. Misho has delivered a new roastery. Its name is Crooked Nose & Coffee Stories and comes from Vilnius, Lithuania. It is the first time ever to try a coffee roasted in this european country, so it was an interrsting experience for us.

So after we finished our coffee and paid our coffee, Misho - the owner came to me with a small package and passed it to me. “Here, try this as well, it is excellent” he said. It was a coffee from Costa Rica and well… it was a Geisha coffee! What an excellent present! I love such.

Misho also gave us a card of the roastery, so I left the place with the coffee I bought, a card and the Geisha present.

Misho told is that the owner of the Lithuanian roastery looks just exactly as the guy from the card. That’s very cool! 😁

So bow, I cannot wait to experience the Costa Rica Geisha. Surprisingly, the coffee was exactly 20 grams, ideal for V60 filter. Actually it was 0.1 grams shy of 20, but everything is perfectly fine. The color of the roast is light. Very light, to be honest. This is the only way geisha coffee has to be processed. Anything more thant that would be a waste!

The coffee beans look big and nice. Out of the bag, they feel excellent in the aroma and I feel impatient about their grinding. I checked the grinder size setting twice, because it is the only dose that I have from this coffee. I don’t want to mess anything about it. The brew has to be perfect!

I think it looks good for a filter brewing method. Time for the hot water. A new hot water jug is needed at home. The old one works fine, but it is not designed for coffee pourover. I want to have a temperature setting too. This way I will eliminate the use of the additional thermometer to check the temp of the water. And it has also the gooseneck pouring pipe, which helps with the flow control a lot!

Brewing, brewing, brewing… 3 and a half minutes later, and the coffee is ready. I can catch the brilliant jasminr aroma coming out of the coffee. Brewing V60 always feels like the ultimate coffee preparing hoy for me. I like every step of the preparation every single time, although I brew filter coffee every single day.

Time for a breakfast! And some excellent Geisha coffee!

I like how the roasters processed this coffee and I like all the exquisite flavors these coffee beans have. I don’t really know the price of this, because it is a present, but I guess it will be about $100-$150 per kg. I also like the simple and clean design of the packaging. A good roastery doesn’t need to be showy and complex. White or black bag and some simple sketches with the main information about coffee works excellently.

This geisha combines fine jasmine taste, enriched with some citrus freshness. I can feel a sweet mandarins’ flavor in the aftertaste. This really tastes like magic and I am a bit sad that I had only one filter dose of this coffee.

Time for family moments now! Wish you a great Sunday and really hope that bew year will bring a lot of amazing coffee to you!

Bye and see you soon!

I'm so sorry to hear that you started the year with a virus! It's so difficult when we feel awful, and our littles ones even worse. It really is terrible how long it can linger with little ones! Glad you're on the mend now.

Wishing you lots of great coffees and visits to Misho this year! The coffee looks awesome as always 😁

Thank you for the kind wishes! The kids didn’t got ill very often lately, but this virus was really tough.

The coffee is really awesome and Misho was so kind, as always to give this present to me.

Children are sure to be better off.
When they are small their bodies are exposed to numerous diseases but they get over them.
I hope you continue to find this type of coffee and enjoy it very much. Cheers and best regards.

Hello, @mdosev

I like to read that you own different places to enjoy coffee. Sorry the year started with broken health due to the weather changes, hope the kids are doing better. I also like and admire the knowledge about coffee and the presentation of the publication to share the characteristics of Geisha coffee beans and the how did you do for the care of the bean to filter.

Hugs!

Thanks a lot! Coffee knowledge is something that is built gradually, and still there is a lot more to learn.

Luckily the kids are found a lot better now! Best wishes!
