#FungiFriday: Fairy Parachute ~ The Gift of Rain in May

I noticed everyone here sharing their beautiful and unique mushrooms. #FungiFriday is like a weekly festival where mushroom lovers gather to showcase their best finds. I didn’t want to miss out either; I’ve got some photos of them here. There’s not much variety, since it’s not the mushroom season yet.

These mushrooms were taken during a mushroom walk last Sunday, two days after it rained.

Marasmiellus candidus, commonly known as fairy parachute, is a small marasmioid fungus found on twigs, sticks, small logs, and similar forest litter. It’s sometimes found on the sides of coconut fronds or rotting areca palm fronds, as was the mushroom I found.

The caps are small and thin, the gills are fine and sparse, and they’re white to pale cream in color.

Well, that’s all I have. I’ll have to wait for another rainy day to find more interesting mushrooms. See you on my #fungifriday challenge next week.
