Bali Ogoh-Ogoh

Hello everyone!
Today I want to show you some special photos I took in Bali.
When I arrived in Bali, I saw huge statues everywhere and I had no idea what they were for.
About a month later I learned that they were preparing for Nyepi, the Balinese New Year festival, the locals were probably already starting construction two months before, so that they are ready for this important night.
These huge statues are called "Ogoh-Ogoh" They are very important in Balinese culture and represent the absolutely evil spirit of the universe, called "Buta-Kala" in other words: Ogoh-Ogoh embodies negative forces, evil and demonic forces and takes the form of mythical creatures and monsters.
Historically, they are said to have their roots in ancient agricultural and religious customs.
Before Nyepi, the Balinese people organize a big procession with the Ogoh-Ogoh statues.
that by burning these statues they can destroy evil and protect the island
They serve to cleanse nature and expel evil spirits from the lives of the Balinese
Each Ogo Ogo figure is unique in shape and appearance, and I have observed them being made everywhere on the island, near villages and temples
They are mainly made of polystyrene and bamboo and are therefore very lightweight
There were small Ogo-Ogos made by children and gigantic, several meters high specimens whose size overwhelmed me
It Was so fascinating to see them and I just had to take photos
I took every opportunity to do so Because they are truly wonderful artworks I think you can feel the power and slightly eerie atmosphere in this photo too
When I have the opportunity I will show you more of them
What do you think of these somewhat eerie statues?

It’s absolutely striking! I thought they were people in costumes, never imagined they’re statues. They’re full of distinctive cultural charm.
I was going to say India vibe. But yes, Bali, tha tis interesting.
thanks
