La zanahoria y una gota de agua / The carrot and a drop of water

Se ha caído de un vaso
una gota de agua sin cuidado,
la pobre en dos se ha fraccionado
y cada uno tomó un camino contrario.

Soy una zanahoria sedienta
y sigo la gota que va a la izquierda,
está se lanza de la mesa
y al caer al suelo, se seca.

A drop of water has fallen carelessly from a glass,
the poor thing has split in two,
and each has taken a different path.

I am a thirsty carrot,
and I follow the drop that goes to the left.
It jumps off the table
and falls to the floor, where it dries up.

Aún tengo agua para beber
y al lado otro lado voy esta vez,
lentamente me acercaré
y con las manos la agarraré.

La gota de agua salta,
cada vez que mis manos la agarran,
entonces, tomo una cuchara
y con ella intento tomarla.

I still have water to drink,
and this time I go to the right side,
slowly approaching it,
and grabbing it with my hands.

The drop of water jumps
every time my hands grab it,
so I take a spoon
and try to drink it with it.

Cuando por fin lo logro
y tengo la gota frente a mi rostro,
la miró con enojo
porque me manipula con sus ojos.

Y aunque la quería atrapar,
ahora siento empatía y piedad,
no beberé una gota más
y la libero en un desagüe que cerca está.

When I finally succeed
and have the drop in front of my face,
I look at it angrily
because it manipulates me with its eyes.

And although I wanted to catch it,
now I feel empathy and pity,
I won't drink another drop
and I release it into a nearby drain.
