La Mordida de la Pulga / The flea bite
Hay un auto azul estacionado
y no se ve nadie cercano,
hasta que del portón sale algo,
un animal blanco.
Es una pulga albina
que en el auto se va deprisa,
llega hasta una casa baldía,
dónde hay una cama sin cobija.
There’s a blue car parked there,
and no one’s in sight,
until something comes out of the gate
a white animal.
It’s an albino flea
that scurries into the car,
making its way to an abandoned house,
where there’s a bed without a blanket.
La pulga estaciona su carro
y se sube en la cama con descaro
en la almohada se acomoda de inmediato
y ahí se queda camuflado.
Al poco tiempo llega un cacahuate,
es su casa y viene a recostarse,
se duerme de manera agradable
sin saber que una pulga cerca yace.
The flea parks its car
and boldly climbs onto the bed,
it settles right into the pillow
and stays there, hidden.
Soon after, a peanut arrives,
it’s his home, and he comes to lie down,
falling asleep peacefully
without knowing that a flea lies nearby.
La pulga sale y asusta
al cacahueta que duerme con ternura,
lo muerde con astucia
pensó que era comida pura.
El cacahuate mucho se enfada
y le dice al animal que se vaya,
la pulga a su auto salta
y antes de irse, al fruto le habla.
The flea comes out and startles
the peanut sleeping peacefully,
biting it slyly,
it thought it was a tasty treat.
The peanut gets very angry
and tells the flea to go away,
the flea jumps into its car
and, before leaving, speaks to the peanut.
Le dice que se vayan a pasear
que olviden lo que acaba de pasar,
promete que lo recompensará
y que lo llevará a viajar.
El cacahuate salta al auto
y se van a pasear un rato,
no sé quedó con el enfado,
perdono, olvido y siguió avanzando.
She tells him to go for a drive,
to forget what just happened,
promises she’ll make it up to him
and take him on a trip.
The little guy jumps into the car,
and they go for a drive,
he didn’t hold a grudge,
he forgave, forgot, and moved on.
