El verdadero hogar / The real home

Una hoja a la cocina entra
y a una mesa se trepa,
observa una ensalada fresca
y sin miedo al plato se acerca.

Explora lo que hay,
encuentra un brócoli de grata tonalidad,
lechuga y pepino también hay,
es una ensalada con gran variedad.

A leaf enters the kitchen
and climbs onto a table,
it observes a fresh salad
and fearlessly approaches the plate.

It explores what's there,
it finds some broccoli with a pleasant color,
there's also lettuce and cucumber,
it's a salad with great variety.

Se siente conforme con lo que halla
y se sienta entre las verduras cortadas
hasta que un tenedor la atrapa
y la examina para ver de que es esta hoja larga.

El tenedor sobre la ensalada la suelta
y la hoja se siente molesta,
este lugar no es lo que piensan,
no hay amabilidad, por eso se aleja.

It feels satisfied with what it finds
and sits among the chopped vegetables
until a fork catches it
and examines it to see what this long leaf is.

The fork on the salad drops it
and the leaf feels annoyed,
this place is not what they think,
there is no kindness, so it walks away.

La hoja al jardín regresa
y en un tronco se trepa,
es mejor una casa modesta,
que una donde te acechan.

De la ensalada no se supo más
y a la cocina no volvió jamás,
esta hoja muy feliz está,
en el jardín, su único y verdadero hogar.

The leaf returns to the garden
and climbs up a tree trunk.
A modest home is better
than one where they stalk you.

Nothing more was heard of the salad,
and it never returned to the kitchen.
This leaf is very happy
in the garden, its one true home.
