Last day in Poland. Finally some snow ❄️

Monday, 30th of January 2023 [37]

Happy new week everyone!

I have mixed feelings about this new week to be honest. On one side I’m happy to finally see the snow and on the other side I’m a little sad to be leaving my parents tomorrow morning.

All good and bad eventually comes to the end. My spontaneous trip to Poland was sure fun. For the first time in many years I was able to be with my mum for her birthday. Not that she celebrates it anyway, but she was very happy when I walked in with this huge Dendrobium orchid and chocolates for her birthday.

It has a very delicate scent, but there are also roses from my dad and a pot with hyacinths sent by my brother, so the other scents overpower this cute, sublime scent of Dendrobium.

For the time being it sits here, next to this pretty clock, so the couple on the swing can enjoy it 😉

Later on, after all flowers drop, I’ll remind mum on skype to move it closer to the window. In this spot here it looks pretty, but it won’t survive. It needs much more light.

This morning I got up very late - around 11am. Soon enough I developed a massive headache. Most likely all those cigarettes I smoked over the weekend plus I slept too late.

It was early afternoon when through my mum’s room windows I noticed it started snowing ❄️. I wanted some more snow to settle before going out for a photo walk with mum.

It snowed heavily for maybe an hour and then sun came out and all started melting. Through kitchen window I could see that it won’t really settle. Passing cars quickly helped with melting process and soon enough it got cloudy too.

I thought it was time to move if I wanted to take some pictures in a daylight. My headache was increasing and I needed some pills and fresh air.

I looked on those snowmen by my parents front door and they too were excited for the snow ⛄️

Turns out we were just in time to be able to take a few daylight pictures for another pinmapple post, but the sun was already preparing to move to another parts of the globe, creating beautiful orange flame at the horizon.

I think people living in this old building were frustrated with parcels not arriving at the right number, so someone graffiti’d the number laud and clear on the side on the building. Now everyone knows where number 170 is.

I wanted to take many more pictures, but my head was exploding and my new shoes were rather tight. My left foot was already blistered from another long walk with dad and I was really struggling to walk.

Even my mum was walking faster than me, especially when I’d stop to take more pictures. She was my model for the day again. Although she would mainly show her back 😉

As soon as we arrived in the pharmacy, I swallowed the pill with almost half a litre of water that I took with me for that purpose. I got a few packs of blister platers too. I have 2 hours drive from the airport ahead of me tomorrow and those new shoes will take a while before they get more comfortable.

Once I swallowed the painkiller we were ready for a little more walking. Barely 5k today, but that’s better than sitting on my bum all day long I guess.

Chess anyone? I sure like the idea, although I doubt anyone will be willing to sit here in winter.

How about shoe tree? Anyone saw a shoe tree before? I did. On someone’s post awhile ago and I remember it made me laugh. It made my mum laugh too. Not the shoes, but me taking the pictures of the shoes 😂

We continued the walk, heading towards that pretty golden flame at the horizon. I really wanted to take a better capture of it, but street lights and all kind of buildings were covering up the view.

If only the camera could show it as well as I could see it, but that’s the best I have. I managed to find a little spot away from street lights.

That’s where I’ll end this post. My stomach is a bit squeezed knowing I need to get up at 3:30am tomorrow morning and leave my parents behind for unknown period of time again.

From the airport I will take a bus to the car park, pick up my car and drive straight to work. I have a bribe for my director - a few of my favourite doughnuts. Sadly not the ones he requested, as there were none in the shop, so the custard ones will have to do.

Until next time 💙

Living abroad has some parts to it that are always hard. Saying goodbye to loved ones when you don’t live around the corner.
Safe travels and have a wonderful last hours with your parents 🤗

Happy Birthday to your Mom, belated, hehe. Anyways, how's your walk to the pathway with that white snow? I mean I am seeing a lot lf video where they are having a hard time walking into it. It's funny to be honest but I feel like it will bring a lot of hassle 😆

Haha 😂 when there is a lot of it, it might be problematic to walk, especially if it settles and become icy. Here there was just a little and it melted fast, so it was not much different than walking in the rain.
It was much worse on the drive to the airport though 🙈❄️❄️❄️❄️

I'm glad you had a snowy last day, and I hope the headache is gone for the return trip.
By the way, I don't think I've ever seen a shoe tree before.
Have a safe trip back home Monika, and I hope you can go visit your parents again soon 🤗

Headache gone, but I had no sleep 😴 My neighbour decided to have a Monday night party 🤷🏻‍♀️

On the way to the airport it was snowing like crazy. Very scary to drive, especially that my dad drove 🙈

Usually when I see sneakers tied up in the air it's because they hang from a sidewalk lamp or external power cabling between poles. I'm not used to seeing them hang from trees.

Why sidewalk lamp? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Me neither, but it sure made us laugh 😂

The sidewalk lamp is more like a Γ-shaped lamp, with older ones being shorter than newer ones.

But why are the shoes there? 🤷🏻‍♀️

It could be for any number of reasons: they don't fit anymore; they have holes in them; someone lost a bet; it's a tradition in the neighborhood; it marks "territory" for some group; ...

Hahahahaha 😂😂😂 These are all valid reasons! I’m gonna quote it to other people who ask why 😂😂😂

Two things that I haven't done in forever!

It's good you are sad. It means you love them, and have had a good time 💕

The snow were quick to melt but at least you've seen and walked on them before you bade goodbye from your parents. ❤️ I love that you spent time with them especially on your mom's birthday. Your pasalubong is a beauty and I believe your mom love it. The couple on the swing look happy too hehe!

The shoe tree cracked me up too 😂

It did, I mean what the hell are they doing up on that tree? lol!

Oh geez, I can only imagine snowing can be dangerous on the road. Sounds like the snow teased you a lot as you were leaving😆

Magnacarta listed all very valid reasons for why shoes could end up in weird places. It made me lol on the plane ✈️ 😂😂😂

‘It could be for any number of reasons: they don't fit anymore; they have holes in them; someone lost a bet; it's a tradition in the neighborhood; it marks "territory" for some group; ...’

Oh, I was swearing that snow! It was crazy!
