The Amazing "wheels" of Konark and Stone Carvings.

Konark temple has fascinated me so much, that I took so many of pictures in no time. Being my first visit to the place, I wanted to make it count, by capturing each and every details. The mysteries of Konark Sun Temple are surrounded by fascinating myths, and folklore, both solved and unsolved. Many Hindu scriptures mention Konark as an important place for worshipping the sun, The Konark Temple was built by King Narasimha Deva I in 1244 to worship Surya, the Sun God. The name Konark is made of two Sanskrit words: Kona, meaning corner, and Arka, meaning Sun. The place in Odissa is considered to be the place auspicious to worship Lord Sun.
The temple has seen many changes over the time, the cities being distorted and rebuilt, kingdoms rising and falling, and identities being washed away, all have occurred at the temple. There are many things which cannot be put in words
The temple also features elaborate stone carvings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. The walls of the temple contains, super carving of divine , semi divine human and animal figures amidst floral and geometric ornamentation. Every inch of this temple is carved with unique designs. The artistic skills of the craftsmen who built the temple amazes every visitor. The temple offers a glimpse into the cultural and religious beliefs of ancient India. However, the main attraction remain the wheels.
The temple is in shape of chariot, riding on 12 wheels. All these wheels were used to denote the actual time. Though I am unable to understand the time study through the wheels, but it is actually the crowd puller. Infact the wheels are one of the symbol in recently concluded G20 summit in India. Hope you will like the Black & White Picture of the temple.
Peace !!
Namaste @steemflow

I love that temple, it is really beautiful, the details caught my attention, there are many details and all of them are beautiful! Thank you for this tour to this beautiful place!😀
i think u missed out on the complete temple tour. this one is architectural beauty. there was a story that, the tomb installs a heavy magnet and the idol inside the temple is suspended with its force. and later the magnet was taken over by the Britisheres....not sure the authenticity but there is a lot of stories behind this temple...
Did I miss anything? I have to look for it... and I will find it.
I love those stories, beyond the veracity, they belong to the history and culture of a place and that makes them important.
I didn't come up with much story, as I also need to Google to gather more information....here is the link just to ease out your work a little bit😜

I really missed that beauty but I'll comment here, it's a real beauty! I'm impressed by the architecture and all that culture with its historical details, how did you highlight all that? Incredible!😃
Highlighting tye details...? There was a guide, which was telling too many stories. But he was too quick, so I caught some basic hnderstanding then learn those in details over internet....typically therr are so many stories around the single temple
But anything translates to me hahaha
I'll write it simple
Beautiful details!
Thank you...
To you!
For what.....? If my details helps you understand something then it's good...😇
That's true, if we can always learn from others, that's what counts.
I will write sometimes.
surely, looking forward to it....the guides were telling something but was not clear enough to understand because of his gutkha

They must have putting in a lot of efforts to build this temple. It really nice. What fascinate me about it is cultural and religious of the temple
it is a temple, but the interesting part is that it is considered to be a curse temple ....no idol is worshipped. there are many stories, revolves around this place but know one knows the reality
