If you have a camera phone, make the most of it.

One of the first concepts you learn when you take a photography course is that the best camera is the one you have at hand. And in today's modern world where we have smartphones with cameras, it gives us the practicality of carrying a camera with us at all times.

To show you an example of all the potential that these mobile devices offer us, I am going to participate in this photograph that I took during one of my work trips to Santa Elena de Uairen in the extreme south of Bolivar State in Venezuela.

On business I was in a city on the southern border of my country, I arrived late at night to an inn under construction and spent the night as I could. The next morning I woke up just before dawn and decided to walk around the place while the first rays of the morning sun were coming out.

My attention was drawn to a tree where some parrots were eating fruit, I decided to approach carefully so as not to scare them and appreciate them up close. The thing is that that was the only time I traveled to that region of the country without carrying a camera, I only had my cell phone to take any pictures during my work trip.

Once closer to these birds, they became curious about my presence and watched me cautiously, if you look closely, you will notice that their neck feathers are "ruffled" while their hind feathers are open, this is a warning sign that parrots use to show that they feel threatened.

Good thing I had left my phone charging all night and decided to take it with me as soon as I left my tent that morning otherwise this nice photo you see today would not have been possible.

To take this photo I didn't get too close so as not to scare the bird, which was already quite restless. I raised the phone a bit to take care of the framing so that the sky would be clear in the background and none of the branches of the tree where the bird was perched would be out of my composition. I had to take a deep breath and pray that my protagonist didn't fly away just before the magic click.

What nerves! But boy was it worth the chance.

If I had to give you a recommendation it would be to never underestimate the power of a camera, no matter if it's just your cell phone camera. Never forget that there are moments in life that will never be repeated.

If you have a camera phone, make the most of it.

A parrot not in the cage! I've never seen one freely flying around or perching at tree branches anywhere in my country. It's beautiful. I couldn't imagine our lives before without our handy camera phones that could capture all the random pictures of beautiful scenery around us! Thanks for this article.

I have the blessing of living in a country with a lot of virgin nature. Those parrots fly freely over my town and at certain times of the year, flock to the mango trees around my house and make their loud noise. I really enjoy that show.

Hopefully in the future you can see these wonderful birds in the wild.

There are Philippine birds flying around here, the blessing I also enjoy while living in the countryside!Hearing the sounds of these birds waking up in the morning even in other times of the day is very relaxing!
I'm glad you get to enjoy the beauty brought about by the virgin nature like seeing parrots flying freely around!
Have a good one😊
