Back to shooting animals for now

After yesterday's close call with almost losing my drone in a tall crop field, I decided to continue flying around the fields and enjoying the summer weather when the days are actually beautiful. Though I admittedly had a bit of fear of returning to those locations of dense crops in which it seems like it is far too easy to collide with something low to the ground and wave goodbye to the drone, so I decided to go somewhere where I knew the fields would be either empty, or full of animals instead.

Truthfully, I get a bit bored of shooting animals a lot. There isn't really much fun in it outside of being in the moment and capturing their reactions and movements from above. They're great fun to be around, but for photography potential it seems a bit limiting. I found a field that isn't usually occupied, but now full of cows. They seemed very curious of the drone, more so than any other animal I have managed to capture with it so far. They'd walk up very close to it, and just look at it. Almost in a very awkward manner, though sometimes it was as if they were lining up for some sort of album cover, which made me laugh a bit.

Still, a bit of that anxiety kicked in. The thoughts that maybe one might charge the drone, or that something may happen again. Some leftover fear from yesterday stopped me from flying too high or too far as the sun began to set a little, and the wind began to pick up. But the sunshine was wonderful to be in, and the fields were full of colour and life. That experience alone is by far what makes getting out to do photography worth it. It isn't always about the photographs I return with, but the fun of getting out into nature and witnessing it all.
