Start the morning with a fresh cup of black gold… Damn what a beauty that would be to do that every day, as in coffee = absolutely life. But I literally don’t always have the time or make the moment for it as coffee is always a bit more heavy on the stomach and that is not always something to start the day with. Nevertheless…I love the ritual.
Fresh beans which already smell like a zen atmosphere are put in the little grinder. Fill the piston with the perfect amount of coffee. Push and compress. Let water run through to get a double espresso in 28 seconds at 9.5 bar pressure. Enhance with milk for a cappuccino or extra hot water for an Americano. Sounds more like science than making a drink right?
I always wonder who was the first person to try out that the berries from a coffee plant could be dried, burned and then grind and let water run through to get a drink with caffeine in there. Who did all of this the first time, and how many belly cramps did this person have before the perfect drink came out on the woodfire. Anyways…I'm glad they did to be honest.
I like the whole ritual of spending a decent amount of attention to making a coffee perfect. Although in other situations I also like the ease of just tossing in a tab, pressing start and getting the perfect cup without putting in too much of an effort and they actually also taste good. Us Dutchies are also known for their love of ‘filter brewed pot coffee’ which I also like but I never really got the hang of finding out the right amounts of spoons to scoop in there. ‘A scoop per two cups and a scoop for the pot’ they always used to say. It never turned out perfect for me.
I’m still working on the perfect foam for a cappuccino and preferably with some latte art but that skill hasn’t been found yet as well. Ow well, it means I can experiment more and have some decent coffee in the meantime. Good morning to you Hive!
There we go I’ve been sucked in the loop hole of looking different at stuff we use every day. See something different on what is considered more than normal. And yes @hetty-rowan and the real initiator @rubencress are the ones that pointed me in this direction with this post.

Hi karinxxl 👋
I'm doing a very similar writing/photography challenge for 30 Days✍️ I think I'm on day 15 today, so half way there 🤣 but my day 13 is probably the best of the last 4 or 5.
I also love my coffee, and have a grinder and grind my own beans. But i use a french press leaving it to brew for at least 15 mins to get a good strong coffee. I like mine with sugar and milk (not a coffee purist i know).
I think the only time i don't want a morning coffee is when I'm hungover 🤣
Oeee scuba nice one! I like these kinds of challenges although I wont do them on them on the dialy but just here and there in between which is fine.
French press also super nice, but strong dude. I used to take cups with that to work and notice that was way too much caffeine there haha. But the flavour rocks!
Oh ja, een koffie in de ochtend verdrijft verdriet en zorgen
Voor mij is koffie in de ochtend heel belangrijk, en het komt uit een pistonmachine zoals je hebt laten zien.

Heheheh I love the fact you put in some Dutch here. What is your native language so I can put some in there as well? Pistonmachines rock every though the take a bit more effort..But thats all part of the ritual right?

Agreed. There is something almost meditative about taking the time to brew a delicious cup of coffee.
yeah exactly. Not particularly when you have more people over and you need to make a lot of cups then it is a hassle. But making a nice fat cup for yourself and putting the attention in there..(especially in weekends. Me likey!)
