Never stop being a child.

How many times have you heard this phrase repeated? As a child I loved playing with anything, my imagination created any type of thing I wanted. My gaming friends were often clothespins: I created tracks for cars, weapons, wooden buildings and much more.

But the game I always loved and wanted as a child was the toy train. If you think about it, in almost every Christmas movie there is a toy train in a child's dream drawer or in any toy shop. It may be strange, but I have never received a gift train. I remember asking but my older brother didn't want trains and my parents used to give us a single toy that we both liked.

Lately Ikea has created modular wooden train tracks, meaning it is possible to disassemble and reassemble the tracks as you wish. The trains are also made of wood, with the exception of the engine which has an electronic mechanism that allows it to move and also tow some wagons.

I love seeing my son jump from one side of the track to the other, chasing with his gaze the train crossing the bridge or a small plastic tunnel. In truth I am also very amused, excited, and I am thinking about the next purchase of tracks to build a larger and more complicated track. I can say that I am happy for both of us with the purchase of the Ikea train.

We spent the evening like this. Every now and then my son would add cars to the tracks, cause accidents and then call the fire department to fix everything. I noticed that he really enjoys being a firefighter, he often imagines fires to put out and he enjoys water. Children's genuine imagination is wonderful, we should take some of this powerful power from them. It would help us to be less depressed, anxious and apathetic.

How long do you play with your child?

Some friends have also asked me this question. My answer was simple: as long as he wants. Sure, there are times when I don't have the energy to do anything, but how do you resist your child's request? In reality, my son will grow up one day and won't ask me to play with him anymore. I will therefore regret all those moments when I answered him no.

So, today I smile even when I don't feel like it, and in the evening, when I'm particularly tired, I play as long as I need to. The most beautiful moment is when he falls asleep with a smile. This means that we parents have done a good job.

Mai smettere di essere un bambino...

Quante volte avete sentito ripetere questa frase? Da bambino io amavo giocare con qualsiasi cosa, la mia fantasia ha creato qualsiasi tipo di cosa io volessi. I miei amici di gioco erano spesso le mollette: creavo piste per automobili, armi, palazzi in legno e molto altro.

Ma il gioco che ho sempre amato e desiderato da bambino è stato il trenino. Se ci pensate, in quasi tutti i film di natale c'è un trenino nel cassetto dei sogni di un bambino o in un qualsiasi negozio di giocattoli. Sarà strano, ma non ho mai ricevuto un trenino di regalo. Ricordo di averlo chiesto ma mio fratello maggiore non voleva trenini ed i miei genitori erano soliti regalarci un unico giocattolo che piacesse ad entrambi.

Ultimamente Ikea ha realiz piste per treni in legno modulabili, cioè è possibile smontare e rimontare i binari a proprio piacimento. Anche i treni sono di legno, ad esclusione della motrice che ha un meccanismo elettronico che gli consente di muoversi e trainare anche alcuni vagoni.

Adoro vedere mio figlio saltare da una parte all'altra della pista, inseguendo con lo sguardo il treno che attraversa il ponte o una piccola galleria in plastica. In verità anche io sono molto divertito, emozionato, e penso al prossimo acquisto di binari per costruire un tracciato più grande e complicato. Posso dire che sono contento per entrambi dell'acquisto del trenino Ikea.

Abbiamo trascorso la serata così. Ogni tanto mio figlio aggiungeva macchine sui binari, provoca incidenti e poi chiamava i vigili del fuoco a sistemare tutto. Ho notato che gli piace molto essere un vigile del fuoco, spesso immagina incendi da spegnere e lui si diverte con l'acqua. La fantasia genuina dei bambini è meravigliosa, dovremmo prendere da loro un po' di questo potente potere. Ci aiuterebbe ad essere meno depressi, ansiosi e apatici.

Quanto tempo giochi con tuo figlio?

Alcuni amici mi hanno fatto anche questa domanda. La mia risposta è stata semplice: tutto il tempo che lui vuole. Certo, ci sono momenti in cui non ho le energie per fare nulla, ma come fai a resistere alla richiesta di tuo figlio? In realtà, mio figlio un giorno crescerà e non mi chiederà più di giocare con lui. Rimpiangerò quindi tutti quei momenti in cui gli ho risposto no.

Per cui, oggi sorrido anche quando non mi va, e la sera, quando sono particolarmente stanco, gioco finché è necessario. Il momento più bello è quando si addormenta con il sorriso. Ciò significa che noi genitori abbiamo fatto un buon lavoro.
