Discovering new areas

In December 2024 we moved to this area where i'm living now and i'm still keep discovering new areas for my photography .

Today we went to an area where there is an old Steem pump that was used to make the land dry enough for agriculture .

We have many of those areas in my country because most of my country is below sealevel.

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge".

1 )The building on the left is the Modern pump instalation and on the right is the tower of the old steem powerd pump .

The steem engine is still operational and works for public views 8 times a year you can find more info on their website: https://www.stoomgemaal-arkemheen.nl/ unfortunitly they open up after April 1st so no photography from the inside of the building this time.

2 )On the other side of the dike is what used to be the Zuiderzee / South Sea

3 ) The wetlands around the old steem pump building , loads of birds are getting ready to nest here. I will go back here one day for bird photography and for timelaps photography . Not so many clouds today for that but it could also be a nice location for sunrise and sunset i need to test that out .

4 ) On top of the dike there is a bicycle path where you can also walk, maybe a nice track for @friendlymoose to try out his new bike .

5 ) All the land you see across the water used to be sea , all that land is hand made. Back in 1918 someone came up with the plan , and in 1967 the last dike was build you can find more about that project here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zuiderzee_Works

6 ) And beside the dike underneath the water is a ruin of an old castle , bring your wetsuite and scubatank if you want to visit it .

All images are taken by me @stresskiller

Right that is all for today , don't forget to check your witness votes this year there have been already multiple witness servers that stopped , make sure your votes still count and that the witnesses you have voted for are still up and running .

Easiest way to check is go to : https://primersion.com/witnesses type in your hive account name and it will show you all the witnesses you have voted for.

if you voted for an inactive witness it will show you something like this :

it will also show you the last time the witness created a block :

make sure your votes still count !

and if you happen to have any spare votes please consider to vote for my Witness "stresskiller" every little vote counts and if you have already voted for my witness : T H A N K Y O U !!!!

Do you follow baseball?

This is who taught me. We played in what we called the clinker field. It was across the street from his house, next to their convenient store and I lived next to the store.

The field was where they piled the coal next to the rail for one of the largest cotton mill in North America build by an industrialist named https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Gibson_(industrialist)
