Cats on the streets | Monomad Challenge [ENG-ESP]

A few days ago, I went out to run some errands and came across many cats on the streets, which made me happy because I love cats, but it also made me sad because while some of them have homes and are just out having fun, others are abandoned to fend for themselves.

Hace unos días salí a hacer unas diligencias y me encontré con muchos felinos por las calles, algo que me alegra, ya que amo a los gatos, pero también me entristece porque mientras hay algunos que tienen casa y simplemente salen por ahí a divertirse un rato, otros están abandonados a su suerte.

Fortunately, none of the cats I came across and show you in these photos were in bad condition, and almost all of them were friendly and came up to me so I could pet them. It must be because I have three cats at home, so I smell familiar to them.

Afortunadamente, de los que se me cruzaron en el camino y que les muestro en estas fotos, ninguno estaba en malas condiciones, y casi todos eran sociables y se acercaron para que los acariciara. Debe ser que como tengo tres gatos en la casa, les huelo a algo familiar.

There are several areas of the city where there are groups of cats that are fed by people in the community, and there are also house facades where you can see food and water bowls for them.

Hay varias zonas de la ciudad donde se encuentran manadas de gatos que son alimentadas por personas de la comunidad, y también hay fachadas de casas donde se ven platicos de comida y agua para ellos.

In recent years, thanks to new protection laws and public and private campaigns, people in Venezuela have become a little more sensitive to street animals. There are low-cost or free sterilization campaigns, and many people, in one way or another, do their bit to help them.

En los últimos años, gracias a nuevas leyes de protección y a campañas públicas y privadas, la gente en Venezuela se ha sensibilizado un poco más hacia los animales en situación de calle. Hay jornadas de esterilización a bajo costo o gratuitas y muchas personas, de una u otra manera, ponen su granito de arena para contribuir con ellos.

We have to be aware that we share this planet; the earth does not belong only to humans, and it is our duty to respect all forms of life.

Tenemos que ser conscientes de que compartimos este planeta; la Tierra no pertenece sólo a los seres humanos, y es nuestro deber respetar todas las formas de vida.
