Greetings hivers.
A few weeks ago my wife and I went to the Havana Zoo. It was mostly a work related visit. The initial idea was to take a first look at the place, since many complaints had appeared on social media about the zoo supposedly being in poor condition and about how that might be affecting the animals’ health.
Based on those concerns and at the suggestion of UNEAC, the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, a working group was created with the intention of visiting the zoo and addressing those issues through a photographic project.
However, during my visit I did not notice the critical situation that was being talked about. Quite the opposite. I found a clean and well organized place, animals that looked healthy, and many recreational options for children and young people. It was also a good reminder that beyond what is said on social media, it is always worth seeing things with our own eyes and forming our own opinions.
I did not feel that the necessary conditions existed to develop the project as it had been conceived, and I shared this with the professor. Another colleague who also carried out her own visit came to very similar conclusions.
In the end, the project was cancelled and the visit to the zoo remained what it truly became, a beautiful outing. From it came great photos and very nice memories that had been stored away at the bottom of a trunk.
Here I leave you some of the images I captured that day.
I hope you enjoy them.

Saludos hivers.

WOW! The ability to touch Hippos seems extremely dangerous! However, those are some awesome photos you've captured! It's interesting how the internet has pushed so much negativity into the world, even though it has the potential to be such a tool for good! I guess it's human nature, we like to complain more than compliment!
Dear friend, that young man has been working with the hippopotamus for years, which is actually female, she has been in the park for decades. She deserves a post just for her stories. I will think about it. The internet is great but sometimes very cruel.
