The uncomfortable side of photography / #monomad challenge / [ING/ESP]

Sometimes it feels a bit uncomfortable to photograph situations charged with emotion. In just a second, dozens of thoughts cross your mind and you start questioning whether you should press the shutter or not.

On one side there is the urge to document the moment exactly as it happens, to preserve something that will probably never repeat itself again. On the other side appears the human part of you, the one asking whether you really have the right to step into such an intimate moment with a camera in front of it.

I think that is where photography stops being only technique and becomes sensitivity. It is not always about finding the perfect composition or the best light. Sometimes the most important thing is understanding the moment, respecting it, and deciding whether the image deserves to exist or not.

Sometimes I shoot almost by instinct. Other times I simply lower the camera and keep walking. And even if no photograph remains, the moment still stays with you.

The street is full of real emotions. Joy, exhaustion, loneliness, love, arguments, silence. As photographers, we end up becoming witnesses to small stories that only last a few seconds in front of us.

I guess that discomfort is also part of photographing life as it truly is.

Es un poco incómodo a veces fotografiar situaciones de mucha carga emocional. Te planteas en un instante decenas de cosas y dudas si disparar o no la cámara.

Por un lado está el impulso de documentar ese momento tal y como ocurre, de conservar algo que probablemente no vuelva a repetirse jamás. Por el otro, aparece la parte humana, esa que te hace preguntarte si realmente tienes derecho a invadir un instante tan íntimo con una cámara delante.

Creo que ahí es donde la fotografía deja de ser solo técnica y se convierte en sensibilidad. No siempre se trata de buscar la mejor composición o la luz perfecta. A veces lo más importante es entender el momento, respetarlo y decidir si la imagen merece existir o no.

En ocasiones disparo la cámara casi por instinto. Otras veces simplemente bajo el visor y continúo caminando. Y aunque no quede ninguna foto, el momento igual permanece dentro de uno.

La calle está llena de emociones reales. Alegrías, cansancio, soledad, amor, discusiones, silencios. Como fotógrafos terminamos siendo testigos de pequeñas historias ajenas que duran apenas unos segundos frente a nosotros.

Supongo que esa incomodidad también forma parte de fotografiar la vida tal y como es.
