Greetings, Hivers.

"Life happening," said a sign next to the image of a man completely absorbed by his phone. When I walk the streets with my camera, I often find myself thinking about things that never occur to me anywhere else. I watch people following their routines, moving from point A to point B, often like automatons driven only by the need to make it through another day.

Sometimes, as if I were looking at an apocalyptic landscape, I see expressionless faces drifting through the city like ghosts, floating without any apparent purpose. Then I wake up and realize that perhaps I am the one placing those stories into the photographs I make.

There is an uncomfortable reality for photographers: our work will always be interpreted by people who inevitably find themselves within the frame. Everyone looks through the lens of their own experiences. The range of perspectives is so vast that the same photograph can awaken completely different emotions in different viewers.

Today I would like to share a few photographs taken in the streets of Havana, with all their routines, nuances, and small everyday stories.

"La vida sucediendo", decía un cartel junto a la imagen de un hombre absorto en la pantalla de su teléfono. Cuando camino y fotografío por la calle suelo reflexionar sobre cosas que no se me ocurren en ningún otro lugar. Observo las rutinas de las personas, moviéndose de un punto A a un punto B, muchas veces como autómatas, impulsados únicamente por la necesidad de sobrevivir un día más.

A veces, como si se tratara de un escenario apocalíptico, veo rostros sin expresión desplazándose por la ciudad casi como fantasmas, flotando sin rumbo aparente. Luego despierto y me doy cuenta de que tal vez soy yo quien coloca esas historias en las fotografías que hago.

Existe una realidad incómoda para los fotógrafos: nuestro trabajo será interpretado por personas que inevitablemente se encontrarán a sí mismas dentro de los fotogramas. Cada cual observa desde su propia experiencia. Y la diversidad de miradas es tan grande que una misma imagen puede despertar sentimientos completamente distintos.

Hoy les comparto algunas fotografías realizadas por las calles de La Habana, con sus rutinas, sus matices y sus pequeñas historias cotidianas.
