Hello, Hivers. Lovers of black and white photography.

In recent days, unfortunately, Cuba has been hit by a terrible weather event. Cuba and Jamaica were among the most affected. I truly hope for a quick recovery for everyone 🙏

Due to this unfortunate event, we were without power for several days in the western part of the country. To keep myself busy and not die of boredom, I decided to wander around the backyard and see what I could capture. So here I bring you some photos—nothing too fancy, but made with love.

The first two are of a broken wall, healing as it can—with a little help, of course. The first shot was taken with a macro lens, and the second with a Soviet Helios. The macro is perfect for bringing out textures, while the Helios, usually used for portraits, adds that special aura I love.

Then, something drying in the sun and a banana ripening faster than the others—there’s always one that gets ahead, usually the one that’s been through the most. That’s life.

And to close, a hummingbird sipping nectar from some flowers and a curious little lizard watching everything.

As I said at the beginning, these are simple photos, nothing too ambitious—but I just can’t go a day without pressing the shutter. Hope you like them. I’ll be reading you in the comments.

En estos días, lamentablemente, hemos sido golpeados en Cuba por un terrible evento meteorológico. Cuba y Jamaica fueron los más afectados. Espero de todo corazón que haya una pronta recuperación 🙏

A raíz de este lamentable suceso estuvimos varios días sin corriente en el occidente del país. Para no morir de aburrimiento, me puse a revisar el patio y ver qué podía salir de bueno. Así que aquí les traigo algunas fotos sin muchas pretensiones, pero hechas con cariño.

Las dos primeras son de una pared rota, sanando como puede, aunque con un poco de ayuda. La primera la hice con un lente macro y la segunda con un Helios soviético. El primero, ideal para resaltar texturas; el segundo, más usado para retratos, tiene ese aura especial que tanto me gusta.

Luego seguí con algo secando al sol y un plátano madurando más rápido que sus compañeros —siempre pasa con los más golpeados, así es la vida.

Y para cerrar, un zunzún libando flores y una lagartija curiosa observándolo todo.

Como dije al inicio, fotos sin demasiadas pretensiones, pero no puedo dejar pasar un día sin disparar la cámara. Espero que les gusten. Los leo en los comentarios.
