A man holding up the ruins / #monomad challenge / [ING/ESP]

The photos 📸 are my entry to the #monomad contest from @monochromes and @brumest.

Greetings Hivers.

Sometimes, walking through the streets, I see people who make me hesitate before taking a photograph. People who seem like ruined buildings, fortresses worn down by centuries of rain and salt, like this man who lives in a capital made of only a few square meters and owns more books than furniture. Resisting as he can, with just enough will to live to get up every day, breathe, and little more.

But when I look up, I realize that his surroundings are in no better condition.

Sometimes I think it is not him who lives inside the ruin, but the ruin that leans on him so it does not collapse completely. While he reads, while he slowly turns a page, he holds something more than a book, he holds time, memory, and a quiet form of dignity. The building crumbles, the city cracks, but in that minimal act of reading there is still resistance. And that, even if it does not seem so, is also a form of home.

Saludos Hivers.

Y otra vez fotos impresionantes.

Beautiful and moving, the idea that the ruin leans on him while he reads is powerful.

Thank you for stopping by and reading. The ruins will endure whatever the old man can bear. They are one.

What a great portrait! You capture the essence of that scene, of the man and his surroundings in such a circumstance.

Thank you. You are very kind. The environment has a lot in common with the elderly man. They both support each other.

Love how you state this one, " Sometimes I think it is not him who lives inside the ruin, but the ruin that leans on him so it does not collapse completely." I believe in this one. Somehow it was observed that the buildings are fast to deteriorate and collapse when no one's lives on there.
