Saints Of The Catholic Church

On the days leading up to Holy Week I took these photos, since all the saints were exposed to the view of the parishioners. In the face of each one of them you can see the pain and suffering they went through, as well as the peace and holiness expressed in their eyes. In great part, we must also highlight the good work that the sculptor does to sculpt each figure, impregnating them with those expressions in their faces.

Los días propicios a la Semana Santa tomé estas fotos, dado que todos los santos estaban expuestos a la vista de los feligreses. En el rostro de cada uno de ellos se puede captar el dolor y sufrimiento que pasaron, como también se puede apreciar la paz y santidad expresada en sus ojos. En gran parte, debemos también sobresaltar el buen trabajo que el escultor hace para esculpir cada figura, impregnándoles de esas expresiones en sus rostros.

As in the case of the Nazarene, which is that of Jesus carrying his cross dressed in a tunic and a crown of thorns, in it the artist not only represents a part of the martyrdom of the son of God, but also shows the resignation with which the Nazarene accepted his destiny.

Como en el caso del Nazareno, que es la de Jesús cargando su cruz vestida con una túnica y una corona de espina, en ella el artista no solo representa una parte del martirio de hijo de Dios, sino también muestra la resignación con la que el Nazareno se acogió a su destino.

Another case is the sculpture that depicts Jesus seated or standing with his hands tied, representing the Nazarene awaiting the decision of the authorities of the time. Already convinced of his future, his face shows the acceptance with which he awaits his sad end.

Otro caso es la escultura que escenifica a Jesús sentado o de pie atado de manos, que representa al Nazareno a la espera de lo que decidan las autoridades de la época. Ya convencido de su futuro, su rostro muestra la aceptación con la que espera su triste final.

Perhaps the most impressive is where Mary, mother of the savior, lies with her dead son at her legs; in it we observe the pain of a mother before the tragic destiny of the one who is the savior of humanity.

Quizás la más impresionante es donde María, madre del salvador, yace con su hijo muerto a sus piernas; en ella observamos el dolor de una madre ante el trágico destino del que es el salvador de la humanidad.

Many were the figures that I could see and recognize, since the church refers to the life of each one of them as testimonies of faith, throughout the history of the Catholic Church.

Muchas fueron las figuras que pude ver y reconocer, ya que la iglesia nos refiere la vida de cada uno de ellos como testimonios de fe, a lo largo de la historia de la iglesia católica.

And those details are more marked in the black and white images, which transmit those lines of expressions even more real. In this walk through Caracas I leave you these holy images to increase our faith.
