| MONOMAD | Second leg of the trip
Havana at noon
We’re in La Ceguera, the first stop. If we decide to travel by taxi or bus from my house towards some parts of the city that make way, we’ll cross that area of Marianao. They call it La Ceguera as a reference. The term stems from the fact that an iconic ophthalmology health center is located there. As a result, people refer to the place too as the League Against Blindness (Liga contra la ceguera), although its original name is Pando Ferrer Ophthalmological Institute, Hospital, Outpatient Services, and Emergency Care.
I have to admit, there’s no lack of transport. The trip from my house to the Miramar Business Center, passing through Marianao, can be done with two taxis and costs less than a dollar. Same for the return.
At that point, I was already heading back home. Now, looking at the photo, I feel the heat again—even though I’m in my air-conditioned room. It must be the handheld fan that woman is holding and the sunlight, I guess. See that little cart there? He sells slushies in various flavours. They have syrups in bottles and pour them over ice in a small plastic cup. Personally, I don’t like buying those. That ice always looks dirty to me… I’m a bit fussy when it comes to eating street food.
On a single block, you'll find countless scenes and a commotion that almost overwhelms me. It's a very busy place. I walked over to the area where the taxis gather, and these two were caught in a playful tussle. They're colleagues, know each other, and joke around.
Its sign clearly indicates the route it will cover: San Miguel del Padrón – La Ceguera.
A self-portrait before stealing the soul of a truck driver headed to El Cotorro.
That thing you see pointed by his leg is a makeshift cooler made of polystyrene. He’s probably got ice water stashed in there… I doubt he’s carrying beer. Haha…
See those vignettes? My 14–42 mm lens is in bad shape. I've had to reframe all the previous images (all but two — tell me which ones 🤓) to remove the vignette. Poor lens, that darkness is creeping in... perhaps I should've taken it to the League Against Blindness. 😂

The last one and the self-portrait, those have captions!
I don't really like street food either, I don't know how it's made, they're very particular about food.
What a fabulous tour... I bet it doesn't have beer, right?🤣
The photo of the van covering San Miguel - La Ceguera has a vignetting at the top left. I couldn't remove it because I didn't want to lose the people in the background. If I cropped the image there, you wouldn't see those people. And I wanted to give the idea of crowds of passengers.
It didn't occur to me to ask the truck driver what he had in there. When I got home I didn't drink a beer, although I didn't want to, but I did have a knob of water with lots of ice and I had mashed malanga with chicken and avocado for lunch.
🤗😉
Of course! I didn't see it with the tree!
I don't drink beer hahaha I prefer water, well done!
Hi @nanixxx, my answer is the same as Avdesing's. I really like seeing how you capture life in your photographs. You already knew that, but I don't mind repeating it.
Have a nice afternoon. 🤗
🤗 ¿cerveza? No sé, pero aquí venden unas bien frías en la esquina. Me están dando ganas de ir por algunas. 🤣
Amandaaaa, que sol!!!! I can feel it through your photos!! I love your self-portrait, especially the people in the background. ¿Y la pose del chofe?...speechless 🤣. Un abrazo 🤗
😉 Buenos días, Amanda. Vamos a ver cómo me trata hoy el calor. Gracias. ¡Abrazo!
Looks like a fun and scenic leg of your trip! Can’t wait to see where the journey takes you next. 🚗📷
Hello... Havana is like that, very photogenic. I'm glad you enjoyed my post. 😀
With this heat, the first thing I'd do is have that cold beer and then head home. Your black and white photos are always spectacular for me; they capture the Cuban life as it's lived day to day. Hugs.🥰❤️❤️❤️
Sí, yo sé, una cervecita... 😂 Un abrazo Mamani.
Amanda me encantaron las fotografías. La pura realidad, hasta se siente el tronco de calor. ¿A pie? 🤗
A pierruli. 😅 Gracias Eduarditín.
Shall we make a team? 🦉 Ever since I saw a mosquito in a tortilla, I never wanted to eat street food again haha 😂
I don't know anything about photography or framing, so I'll do Ta-te-ti...
The third and sixth picture 🦉
Ta-te-ti 😄😅 te quiero buhito, te quiero.
Y sólo has visto un mosquito en una tortilla, si te cuento lo que he visto yo... 🤐
Yes, definitely.
Slushies are very popular at this time of the year; the intense heat makes people consume them very often, but I confess that I don't like them either. Excellent pictures @nanixxx. Greetings and have a nice day ☺️
I guess people are developing antibodies... Hahaha... Thank you!
Nice weekend. 😉
