| MONOMAD | Chilling out or "in short, the sea"

I took these pictures from a small table, decorated with tiles and with the inscription of the place where I was: Factoría Plaza Vieja (beers and malts for sale).

In my previous post, I mentioned that I was there with a friend and that we enjoyed a few pitchers of beer. There was no malt. I was disappointed that the only thing you could order there was beer. At least that's what I witnessed on a Sunday, between 6:46 and 7:25 p.m. when I caught these moments from a Plaza.

These are things about my city that I don't understand; how can a spacious establishment in such a good location only have beer to offer? We would have loved to have something to eat, some tapas, something light to snack on.

In short, the sea (En fin, el mar) is a phrase that we usually say when we can't find an explanation for something or... why think about something that seems to have no solution?

_1370102.JPG _1370114.JPG

By the way, this phrase is in a poem, written by Nicolás Guillén in 1964, under the influence of the first years of the Revolution. "I have" is the title. I found this page with a translation that I think is quite good.

I didn't bring the sea here, but I did portray some birds. I like to think that sometimes they come near me to deliver a message.

Of course, I was making good use of my zoom lens, but that sparrow was very close, on the next table.

Soon I should bring Hive some of what is inside that building. It's the Fototeca de Cuba, a must-visit place for me, dedicated to promoting and preserving national and international photographic production, as well as functioning as the main Photographic Archive from the City Historian's Office. Here you can see their Instagram page.

Clandestine, I should title this photo. I'll let you tell me in the comments why or what you think about it.

_1370109.JPG

A conversation in which gazes are hidden... why? There was no blinding sun at that hour. The light was quite soft and you could even see a few light bulbs on.

_1370110.JPG

I imagine you -perhaps- thinking about how many important and magical moments passed without you being able to look into the eyes of your very special person. We have all been in that situation. A reminder to be ever more present in the now.

_1370124.JPG

La Cucaña does offer tapas, although I wouldn't have taken these photos from there. Hahaha... I would have taken others.

_1370139.JPG

Another great place in the background is la Cámara Oscura. There, in a dark room, you can observe the surrounding environment, reflected on a screen with a diameter of 1.80 m, thanks to the magic of a beam of light.

_1370123.JPG

There's a periscope set up there to make it possible.

With a lens made by the Siden Optical Company, based on an old Leonardo Da Vinci model, the camera captures everything that is happening at that moment over a distance of 5 km. It is one of only 54 cameras of its kind in the world. source

Let's see life and its action, the joy, but also the interesting places that await us, wonders that we can admire just by going for a short walk.

_1370135.JPG

Not bad for sitting still. It was so relaxed...

_1370136.JPG

... but not everyone had that possibility. Maybe that pigeon was a bit anxious.

There is a hotel in this square and it is the Palacio Cueto, an Art Noveau building that I could admire between sips of beer.

_1370107.JPG

Joy.

_1370130.JPG

Friendship.

_1370118.JPG

It really is a lively square, ideal for the #Monomad. 😄

_1370132.JPG

Some work, others play and some are chilling out... isn't it the same everywhere?

En fin, el mar.

How beautiful are the photographs of moments, in a given instant... just an instant.

I really like the one of the children playing and the pigeons near the sculptures... the little bird perched on the chair... how sweet!😍

I like to do that, I had forgotten how much I enjoy it when I sit quietly in one place and watch life go by.

;)

Thanks...

The photos are so amazing! I'm a fan of zoom lens's.

The one of the couple sitting in a table wearing glasses made me laugh by how relatable this is to my dad when we go to cafeterias that have tables in the outside XD, he always forgets he has them on no matter how the sun is behaving...

Good morning, to your question ¿sale of Havana cigars to a tourist?; And, yes, it is like that all over the world, although not everywhere there is sea. I liked the photo of the friendship....
Best regards

I saw today in your post, there are some very good moments in the square that you managed to capture, of course there are some pictures that really steal my attention, such as some pictures of magnificent buildings and pictures of small children playing.

It's a very beautiful place, yes. And from the rooftops of some of those buildings, it looks even better.
