Monomad: Swamp Crab from Sumatra

This is a swamp crab that I often find on the banks of the Meuraksa River, Aceh, Sumatra Island. In the coastal areas of Sumatra, there are actually many types of small crabs. Among the many types of small crabs, among those that live on the coast and dig holes for housing there, there are also swamp crabs that live on the banks of saltwater rivers, which essentially flow into the ocean too. And what I photographed is a swamp crab that lives in a riverbank swamp.

It's not difficult to find them. I just come in the afternoon, wait for the river water to recede, then the riverbank starts to become shallow, revealing the muddy riverbank. Well, that's where the swamp crabs do their activities all day long. By coming there, I had to sneak around so as not to be suspicious of the swamp crabs. Very carefully I started to approach and then photograph them from a close distance.
