You have to be out on the street—Street Photos./ Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

Greetings, friends in the community. How are you all doing? Personally, I believe that friends are a very valuable treasure, and here’s why: on Sunday, I went with some of them (who, coincidentally, are also here on Hive) on a photography tour of Havana. It was a spectacular day: perfect weather. 👌

Saludos, amigos de la comunidad. ¿Cómo les va? En lo personal, considero que los amigos son un tesoro muy valioso, y les cuento por qué: el domingo fui con algunos (que casualmente también están aquí, en Hive) a hacer un recorrido fotográfico por La Habana. El día era espectacular: clima perfecto. 👌

And to start the day off on the right foot, we began by having a beer in one of the capital’s busiest squares, where we ran into this musician. It made me so happy! For me, he’s one of the best street musicians in Havana right now. All the songs he plays are his own original compositions, and they’re truly exquisite.

Y para comenzar el día con el pie derecho, comenzamos por tomarnos una cerveza en una de las plazas más concurridas de la capital, donde encontramos a este músico. ¡Me dio una alegría enorme! Para mí, es uno de los mejores músicos callejeros que hay actualmente en La Habana. Todos los temas que interpreta son de su propia inspiración y, de verdad, tienen una calidad exquisita.

Plus, needless to say, we took tons of photos of him—as we Cubans say. Right after he finished playing and singing, and sharing some of his songs with us, we started taking portrait shots and close-ups of him.

Además, está de más decir que nos lo comimos a fotos, como decimos los cubanos. Enseguida después de terminar de tocar y cantar, y de compartir algunas de sus canciones, le empezamos a hacer fotos de retrato y de detalle.

Afterward, we went for a walk with no particular destination in mind. Honestly, we hadn’t planned to go anywhere, but when you’re out with friends, chatting and sharing, having a good time, reasons to take photos pop up right away. We started seeing people on the street working, walking—and there were the photos we wanted.

Después, nos fuimos a caminar sin rumbo fijo. Sinceramente, no habíamos planificado ir a ningún sitio, pero cuando uno va con amigos, conversando y compartiendo, pasándoselo bien, aparecen motivos enseguida. Empezamos a ver a la gente de la calle trabajando, caminando, y ahí estaban las fotos que queríamos.

To top it all off, we went to a friend’s place—she has an apartment near there—and had a delicious meal of excellent quality. It’s not just about the lunch, but also the human connection—having good friends and being able to share moments with them.

Para terminar con broche de oro, fuimos a casa de una amiga que tiene un apartamento cerca del lugar y allí tuvimos una comida riquísima, de calidad excelente. No es solo el almuerzo, sino también la calidad humana, que es tener buenos amigos y poder compartir con ellos.

I hope we’ll have more days like this. I’m sure we will, because this is just the beginning of something very beautiful and lasting that we’ll enjoy on many occasions.

Ojalá se repitan días así. Estoy seguro de que así será, porque esto es solo el principio de algo muy hermoso y duradero que disfrutaremos en muchísimas ocasiones.
