fter turning 40, I tend to take things more calmly and confidently. It's like a state of constant reflection, but without driving myself crazy. And what does this have to do with street photography? Sometimes you see so many scenes when you're walking around, not exactly in the best and prettiest neighborhoods of the city, that you just want to ignore them. But if I did that, I wouldn't be being true to myself, so I always try to find a balance.

espués de que cumplí 40 años, suelo tomarme las cosas con más calma y confianza. Algo así como un estado de reflexión constante, pero sin volverme loco. ¿Y qué tiene esto que ver con el street photography?, que a veces uno ve tantas escenas cuando camina, no precisamente por los mejores y más lindos barrios de la ciudad, que simplemente quisiera obviar. Pero de hacerlo así, no me veo siendo sincero, por eso siempre trato de encontrar un equilibrio.

That balance wouldn't be possible without my morning coffee, which, by the way, I recently found a great place to drink, but I'll talk about that in another post.
Ese equilibrio no sería posible sin mi café matutino, que, dicho sea de paso, recientemente encontré un sitio fenomenal para tomarlo, pero de eso hablaré en otro post.

As I was saying, balance is essential, at least in my understanding of things. That's why I usually look for scenes that say something, but without being too aggressive.
Les decía, el equilibrio es fundamental, por lo menos a mi entender de las cosas. Por eso suelo buscar escenas que digan algo, pero sin llegar al punto de ser demasiado agresivas.

It also depends on how my day is going; if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, I want to take on the world and verbal gentleness is not my ally. But, honestly, most of the time that's not the case.
También depende de cómo tenga el día; si amanecí con el pie izquierdo, me quiero comer el mundo y la suavidad verbal no es mi aliada. Pero, sinceramente, la mayoría de las veces no es así.

I just try to reflect my reality, the circumstances that surround me on a daily basis, and in one way or another leave a documentary trace of everyday life in Havana.
Solo intento reflejar mi realidad, las circunstancias que me rodean en el día a día, y de una forma u otra dejar una huella documental de la cotidianidad habanera.

I imagine I haven't always succeeded, but little by little I'm taking small steps in that direction. That's how I think, after 40, I used to say.
Imagino que no siempre lo logré, pero poco a poco voy dando pequeños pasos en esa dirección. Esa es mi forma de pensar, después de los 40, decía.

That first photo "has everything a street photo should have"... Movement, complexity, total whites, absolute blacks, challenging cropping, iconographies, the human and the artificial in a single dynamic and eloquent view!

Hermosas fotos me encanta como le das vida a las cosas asi esten en blanco y negro transmite demasiado, tus trabakos a contraluz siempre son mis favoritos , por otro lado me encanda el diseño que le has dado a tu texto felicidades por tu excelente trabajo
