Congratulations to everyone featured in this edition of #monomad! 🖤🤍

First place — @jlphotographyart, "Giant bow and great beauty"
A bold, editorial studio portrait: a woman reclining on a glittering floor, wrapped in an oversized fabric bow that dominates the frame. The deep blacks and soft studio light give it real drama — a very deserving first place.

Second place — @dilimunanzar, "At the Central Fish Market"
A candid street moment with three men at a market stall, one flashing a hand gesture to the camera. It has that spontaneous, storytelling energy that street photography does best — you can almost hear the noise of the market.

Third place — @malos10, "The girl with the hat"
A confident studio portrait: a woman in a wide-brim western hat, hand pressed against the wall, strong contrast between the dark outfit and the light background. Simple composition, powerful presence.

Honorable mentions:

  • @rg2-foto — a young boy against a dark background giving a warm thumbs-up. Simple, genuine, and full of life.
  • @dimascastillo90 — a delivery cyclist photographed from behind on a city sidewalk, with converging lines leading the eye down the path. Great sense of depth and urban rhythm.
  • @lindoro — a small lizard clinging to a post, shot through a chain-link fence. Wonderful texture and a clever, patient eye for detail.
  • @muhammadhalim — a close, dignified portrait of an elderly woman with a thoughtful expression and soft side lighting. Quietly moving.
  • @vierif8 — a woman seated against a weathered wall, sipping a drink, wrapped in a headscarf and layered jewelry. Rich in texture and character — a real slice of everyday life.
  • @gohenry — a crowd caught mid-motion with light trails and blur, full of energy and rhythm. A great example of using movement itself as the subject.
  • @toffer — a wide countryside landscape under a dramatic, textured sky, with a path leading into a small village. Peaceful and atmospheric.
  • @roswelborges — a macro shot of a dewdrop hanging from a leaf, with flowers softly blurred behind it. Delicate and beautifully composed.

Such a wide range of styles and subjects — portraits, street life, nature, motion — all working beautifully in black and white. Sooner or later, once I have a black and white shot I'm truly happy with, I'll join in on #monomad myself!
