Silent Glow in the Cold - monomad daily chalenge

Hello to all my friends in the Black and White Community! It’s Menti, and I’m back with another blog and another photoshoot!

This time, I found myself in a quiet mountain landscape, where snow blanketed the ground and the sunlight painted everything gold. The contrast was stunning—cold, crisp air and warm, soft light. It was one of those rare days when the weather is so peaceful, you feel like the world has hit pause.

We chose to shoot entirely with natural light. The sun was at a high angle, casting a strong light from the left side of the model’s face. To balance the harsh highlights and reveal more detail, I used a silver reflector to gently bounce light back into the shadows. It added a soft glow to the skin while preserving the deep textures in her outfit.

The environment was raw and beautiful—snow-covered rocks, untouched paths, and mountains stretching in the background. A minimal, poetic space. But working with snow brings its own challenges: intense light reflection from the ground meant exposure had to be carefully controlled, and the model’s sunglasses often caught distracting reflections.

Another major challenge was the slippery ground. Since we couldn’t move the model much, we had to rely on small, subtle changes in her posture—like a tilt of the head or the lift of a hand—to shift the mood and tell a story. Every frame was built from these micro-movements.

Despite all of this, what we captured was intimate and glowing. Her coat texture looks almost touchable, her expression quietly powerful, and the background seems to whisper in sepia tones. It’s these fleeting, simple visuals that make photography feel like time-travel—to a mood, a breath, a moment.
