Her Silence Beneath the Snow _ monomad daily chalenge

Hello dear friends in the Black & White Community, Menati here, back with another blog and another shoot!

This time, I’m sharing a collection of photos of a woman whose gaze carries both strength and softness. Despite the winter chill, her presence radiated warmth. Shooting in winter is always a mix of physical challenges and visual opportunities—and this time, we embraced them to create something intimate and powerful.

The location was a snowy woodland area and later a traditional urban setting. Light filtered softly through bare branches, falling gently on her face. We relied entirely on natural light—side lighting to be specific—to highlight her facial contours with depth and softness.

She wore a light woolen coat, textured and cozy, which stood out beautifully against the darker, more complex background. It was a perfect match for both the setting and the mood—warm, elegant, and tactile.

Later in the shoot, we moved to an old urban balcony, where iron railings, snow-filled pots, and aged walls added layers of texture and realism. The way she leaned on the railing, hand slightly raised, told a quiet story—one of poise, contemplation, and confidence.

The biggest challenge was managing light in a space that constantly shifted between shadow and sun. Timing and angle were everything. I used the 24-70mm f/2.8 lens on my Sony a7 III to maintain flexibility while preserving image quality.

But more than any technical detail, what made this shoot truly special was the silent conversation between me and the model. She trusted, opened up, and I simply observed. Sometimes, silence speaks louder than anything else.

Thanks for being here, for watching closely, and for reading with your heart. This shoot was a quiet conversation I’ll never forget.
