Hello friends of #Hive!... I'm here again with my monochromatic street photography series and -as usual- this is my entry to today's #monomad challenge... Today's selection is composed by (as I also do) unpublished photographs found among my RAW files from March, April and the days that have run in May of this year.

¡Hola amigos de #Hive!... Nuevamente estoy por aquí con mi serie fotografías callejeras monocromáticas y -como ya es costumbre- esta es mi entrada al reto #monomad de hoy... Esta selección de hoy está compuesta por fotografías inéditas (como también acostumbro hacer) encontradas entre mis archivos RAW de Marzo, Abril y lo días que han corrido en Mayo de este año.

Today we are celebrating "Mother's Day ❤️" in my country, so I woke up very early and proceeded to prepare breakfast for my mother and my wife (we live next door to each other).... That was a lovely thing to do, as the three of us had breakfast together and then they drank coffee while I washed all the dishes... 😂

Hoy estamos celebrando el "Día de la Madre ❤️" en mi país, así que desperté muy temprano y procedí preparar el desayuno para agasajar a mi madre y a mi esposa (vivimos en casas contiguas)... Eso fue algo encantador, pues desayunamos los tres juntos y ellas después se dedicaron a beber café mientras yo lavaba todos los platos... 😂

Unfortunately, in third world countries like this one, there is always something that tends to complicate the day... And today at 10:00 AM the electricity service was interrupted thanks to a "power rationing" programme imposed by the national company in charge of providing this service... Obviously, that affected this beautiful morning as the excessive heat, high humidity and intermittent showers turned the atmosphere into something like a steam oven, which is quite difficult to cope with without turning on the air conditioning.

Lamentablemente, en países del tercer mundo como este, siempre se presenta algo que suele complicar el día... Y hoy a las 10:00 AM el servicio de electricidad se vio interrumpido gracias aun programa de "racionamiento de energía" impuesto por la compañía nacional encargada de proveer dicho servicio... Obviamente, eso afectó bastante esta linda mañana pues el excesivo calor, humedad alta y lluvias intermitentes, terminaron por convertir la atmósfera en algo parecido a un horno al vapor, cosa la cual es bastante complicada de enfrentar sin encender el aire acondicionado.

My older sister, who also lives nearby in the same village, came to pick up my mother to invite her and her friends to lunch... My wife went to her mother's house to present her with a chocolate cake, which she made herself last night... I was invited by both of them, but my mood had already suffered from the lack of electricity and the unbearable weather, so I declined both invitations and went to look for pictures in my laptop's disks (fortunately its battery has a good life and allows me to do this even without electricity supply)... That's how I was able to let the time pass and prepare the pictures for this publication.

Mi hermana mayor, quien también vive cerca en este mismo pueblo, vino a recoger a mi madre para invitarla a almorzar junto con sus amigas... Mi esposa fue a casa de su madre para obsequiarle un pastel de chocolate, el cual ella misma preparó la noche de ayer... Fui invitado por ambas, pero mi humor ya había sufrido el embate de la falta de electricidad y el insoportable clima, así que decliné ambas invitaciones y me dediqué a buscar fotos en los discos de mi laptop (afortunadamente su batería tiene una buena duración y me permite hacer esto aún sin tener suministro eléctrico)... Así fue como pude dejar correr el tiempo preparando dichas fotografías para esta publicación.

I've looked at the result of processing these photos and I'm noticing that I've made them "darker" than I'm used to... In general the contrast range I use between whites and blacks is very high, even in some photos I usually allow myself to "burn" some areas in order to make them look the way I want them to look... However there is something of "bad mood" in this photo editing I did today. I'm even observing a rather dramatic profile in each of the photos I chose... And I love that it happens, because when that happens, I corroborate that photography (and mainly when it is in black and white) is something very "psychic" and it is almost impossible to separate the photograph we are editing from the way of thinking we have at the moment of doing this.

He observado el resultado del procesado de estas fotos y me estoy percatando que las he hecho "más obscuras" de lo que acostumbro... Por lo general el rango de contraste que uso entre blancos y negros es muy alto, incluso en algunas fotos suelo permitirme "quemar" algunas áreas en pro de que resulten como deseo que se vean... Sin embargo hay algo de "mal humor" en esta edición de fotos que hice hoy. Inclusive, estoy observando un perfil bastante dramático en cada una de las fotografías por las que opté... Y amo que eso suceda, porque cuando eso sucede, corroboro que la fotografía (y principalmente cuando es en blanco y negro) es algo mu "psíquico" y es casi imposible deslindar la fotografía que estamos editando, del modo de pensar que tenemos al momento de hacer esto.

Be that as it may, the four hours of the damned "power rationing" passed relatively quickly while I was "ruminating" and editing photos on my laptop, so this served me well. Fortunately, by the time I started creating this post everything had normalised here and even my bad mood had given way to a faint urge to "kick things out of control" but as I always do I "refrained"... I remember once, several years ago, about fifteen years ago, on the couch of an occupational psychologist, in the company where I worked for decades... He told me: "You have to learn to control your anger"... Hmmmmm... Fifteen minutes later I was yelling at my boss's office wanting to quit my job... Obviously, my boss just smiled and smiled (a great guy indeed)... He told me to take the afternoon off!... It seems I've improved a lot since then! 😂😂😂

Sea como sea, las cuatro horas del condenado "racionamiento de energía" pasaron relativamente rápido mientras yo "rumiaba" y editaba fotos en mi laptop, así que esto me sirvió de mucho. Afortunadamente, cuando comencé a crear esta publicación ya todo se había normalizado aquí e incluso mi mal humor había dado paso a una apenas ligera necesidad de "patear cosas sin control" pero como siempre hago "me abstuve"... Recuerdo una vez, hace varios años, unos quince estimo, en el diván de un psicólogo laboral, en la empresa en donde trabajé por décadas... El me dijo: "Tienes que aprender a controlar tu ira"... Humm... Quince minutos después estaba dando de a gritos en la oficina de mi jefe queriendo renunciar a mi trabajo... ¡Obviamente, mi jefe solo sonrió y me dijo que me tomara la tarde!... ¡Parece que he mejorado bastante desde entonces! 😂😂😂

Technical Note: All photographs are captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format and then processed using Adobe Camera Raw, this includes de-saturation, depth adjustment, sharpening, shadows, whites, contrasts and clarity. Finally all the photos are exported to JPG files and minor adjustments are made using PhotoScape 3.6.2.

Nota Tecnica: Todas las fotografías son capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW y posteriormente procesadas usando Adobe Camera Raw, esto incluye la desaturación el ajuste de profundidad, afinado, sombras, blancos, contrastes y claridad. Finalmente se exportan a archivos JPG y de hacen ajustes menores usando PhotoScape 3.6.2.
