Hello dear #Hive friends!.... This edition of my monochrome street photography series "Stolen Stories" has been constructed using photos from the same afternoon this week, when I went out to take pictures in my streets and after a morning with a bit of rain... This is also my entry to today's #monomad challenge, our lovely monochrome corner in #Hive.

¡Hola queridos amigos de #Hive!... Esta edición de mi serie de fotografías callejeras monocromáticas "Historias Robadas" ha sido construida usando fotos correspondientes a una misma tarde de esta semana, cuando salí ha hacer fotos en mis calles y después de una mañana con un poco de lluvia... Esta es también mi entrada al reto #monomad de hoy, nuestro encantador rincón monocromático en #Hive.

"Willy" / _"Willy"

A couple of years ago, Willy was still a small child in the arms of his mother who was often seen walking the streets of our neighbourhood. In some inexplicable way, little Willy grew up and became something like a "miniature earthquake" 😂... He is always on the streets near his house, or on the roof of another house, also playing with mud and water in the puddles, chasing stray dogs to hang things from their tails or just running down the street while screaming like an ambulance siren 😂... His young mother does nothing but shout threats after this mischievous and restless little boy, but he seems to ignore them... In fact, this is only the first time I have ever found him still enough to take a photo.

Un par años atrás, Willy aún era un pequeño en brazos de su madre a la cual se le veía con frecuencia caminar por las calles de nuestro vecindario. De alguna manera inexplicable, el pequeño Willy creció y se convirtió en algo así como un "terremoto en miniatura" 😂... ¡Siempre está en las calles cerca de su casa, o en techo de otra casa, también jugando con fango y agua en lasa charcas, persiguiendo perros callejeros para colgar cosas de su cola o simplemente corriendo por la calle mientra grita como una sirena de ambulancia 😂... Su joven madre no hace más que proferir amenazas a gritos detrás de este travieso e inquieto chiquillo, pero él parece hacer caso omiso... De hecho, esta es apenas la primera vez que lo encuentro lo suficientemente quieto para poder hacerle una foto.

"Monday at noon" / _{"Lunes al mediodía"}

It is curious, but in the old days, in small towns like this one, it was common for many men not to work (especially those who had trades such as shoemakers, barbers, grocers and even carpenters). These men would spend the day drinking liquor and playing cards in the village bars (called "botiquines") where they would also go to play "bolas criollas" (a typical game of the central part of our country)... Here in my village this still happens and it is common to see on Mondays around midday, groups of men waiting for the bar to open to relax a bit.

Es curioso, pero en tiempos de antaño, en pueblos pequeños como este, era común que muchos hombres no trabajasen (en especial los que tenían oficios como zapateros, barberos, dueños de abastos e inclusive carpinteros). Estos entonces dedicaban el día a beber licor y a jugar barajas en los bares del pueblos (llamados "botiquines") en donde también se suele ir a jugar "bolas criollas" (un juego típico de la zona central de nuestro país)... Aquí en mi pueblo esto sigue sucediendo y es frecuente ver los lunes cerca del mediodía, grupos de hombres esperando por la apertura del bar para relajarse un poco.

"Children on the streets" / _{"Niños en las calles"}

This are simple photos, rather let's say "casual"... But children playing in the streets are always one of the photographic motifs I like the most to capture... Every time I see scenes like this, I feel winds of childhood memories come to mind playing with neighborhood friends in the streets of the town when we were kids...

Estas son fotos simples, más bien digamos "casuales"... Pero siempre los niños jugando en las calles son para mi un motivo fotográfico de los que más me gusta para capturar... Cada vez que observo escenas como esta, se me vienen a la cabeza vientos de recuerdos de mi niñez jugando con los amigos del vecindario en las calles del pueblo cuando eramos niños...

"Disruption" / _{"Disrupción"}

I confess, this photo was kind of "waiting for the moment", as I was trying to capture an image of that huge window in a colonial mansion when I heard this young mother scolding her little daughter and telling her to hurry up to avoid being late for school.... So I stood there framing this photo until the moment when they both appeared within the visual plane!

Lo confieso, esta foto fue algo así como "esperando el momento", pues eme encontraba procurando capturar una imagen de esa enorme ventana en una casona colonial cuando escuché a esta joven madre regañar a su pequeña hija y conminándola a que se apurase para evitar llegar tarde a su colegio... ¡Así que permanecí allí encuadrando esta foto hasta el momento en el cual ambas aparecieron dentro del plano visual!.

"This damn key!" / _{"¡Esta condenada llave!"}

"This damned key" 😂😂😂... That's what I heard this old man say as he stood there "struggling" to open the door of his house.... I imagine he couldn't find the key on the key ring or maybe something was wrong with the lock and it wouldn't unlock.

"Esta condenada llave" 😂😂😂... ¡Eso fue lo que escuché decir a este anciano mientras estaba allí "luchando" para abrir la puerta de su casa... Me imagino que no encontraba la llave en el llavero o quizás algo pasaba con la cerradura y esta no se desbloqueaba.

"Corner of Rivas with Comercio" / _{"Esquina de Rivas con Comercio"}

Like all the other photos in the publication, they were taken last Monday, May 22... But this one in particular could have been taken on any day in the year 1980, since that corner wheree crosses "Rivas St." with "Commerce Av." seems to be frozen in time... I took this photo instinctively, because I knew that in a few seconds the man pulling his mule and the other on his bicycle would surely disappear and then it would be impossible to repeat the image.

Como todas las otras fotos en la publicación, fueron hechas el pasado Lunes 22 de Mayo... Pero esta en particular podría haberse hecho en cualquier día del año de 1980, pues esa esquina en conde se cruza la calle "Rivas" con la "Avenida Comercio" parece estar congelada en el tiempo... Hice esta foto de maner instintiva, pues sabía que en pocos segundo el hombre halando su mula y el otro sobre su bicicleta, seguramente desaparecerían y entonces sería imposible repetir la imagen.

"Always Sorolo" / _{"Siempre Sorolo"}

Well, this is starting to seem strange, but it is almost impossible for me to go out for photos on the streets and not find "Sorolo" on a street corner. And finding Soloro is automatically "taking his picture" as he loves to appear on social networks (everyone here has great affection and respect for him) and to see how people greet him and send him good wishes, especially young people who are out of the country and remember him with great affection and gratitude for his always friendly treatment... So here is a portrait of Sorolo also for you in #Hive! 😉

Bien, esto comienza a parecer extraño, pero es casi imposible el que yo vaya a por fotos en las calles y no encuentre a "Sorolo" en alguna esquina. Y encontrar a Soloro es automáticamente "hacerle una foto" ya que a él le encanta aparecer en las redes sociales (aquí todo el mundo le tiene gran afecto y respeto) y ver como le saludan y le envían buenos deseos en especial las personas jóvenes que están fuera del país y le recuerdan con mucho afecto y agradecimiento por su siempre amistoso trato... ¡Así que aquí está un retrato de Sorolo también para ustedes en #Hive! 😉
