Sometimes, during my daily wanderings through the streets of my town, I make a stop and I usually enter the old municipal cemetery and sit on a precarious bench under a bush. I do this with the simple intention of resting, escaping a little from the heat and also to reflect for a few minutes surrounded by the typical silence of this kind of places... This is not a place where I usually take a lot of pictures on the same day. Well, to be honest, I find our cemetery quite ugly and neglected. However, today my intention to rest there was frustrated by the presence of municipal workers who were removing the weeds from the graves and cleaning the pathways... So almost immediately after entering I was ready to leave the place, but while I was heading for the exit something attracted my attention on the west wall...

Algunas, durante mi deambular cotidianos por las calles de mi pueblo, hago un alto y suelo entrar al viejo cementerio municipal y sentarme en alguna banca precaria debajo de algún arbusto. Hago esto con la simple intención de descansar, escaparme un poco del calor y también para reflexionar durante algunos minutos rodeado del silencio típico de este tipo de lugares... Este no es un lugar en el cual acostumbro a hacer muchas fotos un mismo día. Pues, para ser sinceros, nuestro cementerio me parece bastante feo y descuidado. Sin embargo, hoy mi intención de descansar allí se vio frustrada por la presencia de cuadrillas de trabajadores de la municipalidad quienes estaban quitando la maleza de las tumbas y limpiando las caminerías... Así que casi inmediatamente después de entrar me dispuse a abandonar el lugar, pero mientras me dirigía a la salida algo atrajo mi atención en la pared Oeste...

Thanks to the fact that the sun was not yet very high on the horizon (it was about 8:30 AM) the shadows of the crosses, tombstones and religious figures placed on the tombs, were projected in a very interesting way on the surface of the wall.... So I decided to take a couple of pictures of this. But after seeing the images in the viewfinder of the camera, I really liked what I saw and that's when I decided to take more pictures of this before the sun went up and the shadows were no longer visible on the wall...

Gracias a que el sol aún no estaba muy alto en el horizonte (eran cerca de las 8:30 AM) las sombras de las cruces, las lápidas y las figuras religiosas colocadas en las tumbas, se proyectaban de manera muy interesante sobre la superficie de la pared... Así que decidí hacer un par de fotos de esto. Pero después de ver las imágenes en el visor de la cámara, me gustó mucho lo que vi y fue entonces cuando decidí hacer más fotografías de esto antes de que sol subiese y ya las sombras no fuesen visibles sobre la pared...

I was for more than an hour walking around the West wall of the cemetery, this is one of the oldest areas of the place and therefore there the tombs are also old and are not as elaborate as those of newer sectors where they have roofs, pantheons, trellises and other things that would make impossible a photographic work like this. So I can say that this is one of those occasions when I find another place where everything seems to conspire for me to take photos... 🙂

Estuve durante más de una hora recorriendo la pared Oeste del cementerio, esta es una de las áreas más viejas de lugar y por lo tanto allí las tumbas también son viejas y no son tan elaboradas como las de sectores más nuevos en donde tienen techos, panteones, enrejados y otras cosas que harían imposible un trabajo fotográfico como este. Así que puedo decir que esta es una de esas ocasiones en las que encuentro otro lugar en donde todo parece conspirar para que yo haga fotos... 🙂

The workers of the municipality began to get too close with their noisy weeding machines. But by the time this happened I already had in my memory a significant amount of walls, grave motifs and shadows of these.... That's how I ended up returning home happy with enough material to spend a handful of hours editing in front of my PC and then share with you on #Hive!...

Los trabajadores de la municipalidad comenzaron a acercarse demasiado con sus ruidosas maquinas desmalezadoras. Pero para el momento cuando esto ocurrió ya yo tenía en la memoria una cantidad significativa de paredes con motivos de sepulturas y sombras de estos... Así fue como terminé regresando feliz a casa con suficiente material para estar un puñado de horas editando en frente de mi PC y luego compartir con ustedes en #Hive!...
