Today, very early, I went for a walk through the streets of the town with the intention of exercising a bit and breathing fresh air. I did it without carrying my camera, and this caused many people, upon greeting me, to additionally ask: "And where is your camera?" 😂 So, this made me laugh a bit because, at this point, it seems that to many people here in Montalbán, it seems strange to see me walking in the streets without carrying my camera. That is how these small towns in the interior of Venezuela are: everything becomes a habit, everything becomes something relevant to comment on, and people seem to be very aware of every little detail, making everyone's life a "bit public or collective," as I see it... There was also a person, an old man by the way, from whom I bought a small cup of hot coffee (I like to do that to help as much as possible, at least a little bit, with the economy of those people who sell things in the streets), and while I was drinking the steaming beverage, he told me: "July has been a long and even a bit sad month; thank goodness it is already ending..." I nodded my head, unable to refute anything to a person over 80 years old whose life I know has been very difficult... I was about to tell him something like: "For some time now, every month is like that," but I held back upon realizing that it was a response that would not help at all. So, I changed that response for a more optimistic one: "August will surely be better because I have a birthday on the fourth" (and that is true 😂), and then the old man let out a smile, something which made me feel quite good and, at the same time, think that the difference between saying something pessimistic and something optimistic is truly huge when we stop to evaluate it... And well, after that moment drinking a small cup of coffee bought from an old man in the street, I decided to return home and sit in my studio to write this and to select and process these photos that I share with you today on #Hive, all of them from this month of July that ends today...

Hoy, muy temprano, salí a caminar por las calles del pueblo con la intención de ejercitarme un poco y respirar aire fresco. Lo hice sin llevar mi cámara, y esto provocó que muchas personas, al saludarme, adicionalmente preguntasen: «¿Y tu cámara? ¿Dónde está?». 😂 Así que esto me hizo reír un poco, pues, a estas alturas, parece que a muchas personas aquí en Montalbán les parece extraño verme caminar en las calles sin llevar mi cámara. Así son estos pueblos pequeños del interior de Venezuela: todo se vuelve costumbre, todo se convierte en algo relevante para comentar y las personas parecen estar muy pendientes de cada pequeño detalle, haciendo que la vida de todos sea un «poco pública o colectiva», según yo lo veo... También hubo una persona, un anciano por cierto, a quien compré un pequeño vaso de café caliente (me gusta hacer eso para ayudar en lo posible, cuando menos un poquito, con la economía de esas personas que venden cosas en las calles) y, mientras yo bebía el humeante brebaje, me dijo: «Julio ha sido un mes largo y hasta un poco triste; menos mal que ya se termina»... Yo asentí con mi cabeza, incapaz de refutarle nada a una persona de más de 80 años cuya vida sé que ha sido muy difícil... Estuve a punto de decirle algo como: «Desde hace tiempo para acá, todos los meses son así», pero me contuve al percatarme de que era una respuesta que no ayudaría en nada. Así que cambié esa respuesta por una más optimista: «Agosto será mejor seguramente, porque yo cumplo años el día cuatro» (y eso es cierto 😂), y entonces el anciano dejó escapar una sonrisa, cosa la cual me hizo sentir bastante bien y, al mismo tiempo, pensar que la diferencia entre decir algo pesimista y algo optimista es realmente enorme cuando nos detenemos a evaluarlo... Y bueno, después de aquel momento bebiendo un pequeño vaso de café comprado a un anciano en la calle, decidí volver a casa y sentarme en mi estudio a escribir esto y a seleccionar y procesar estas fotos que comparto con ustedes hoy en #Hive, todas ellas de este mes de julio que termina hoy...
