Portraits of a celebration - Retratos de una celebración. MONOMAD (ENG-ESP)

Saludos hivers. Me encanta ir a las celebraciones tradicionales, folclóricas y populares, y mucho más desde que la fotografía se ha vuelto uno de mis pasatiempos jejeje. Así que conectarme con la energía del evento, perderme entre la multitud y buscar los rostros del asombro, el disfrute, la complicidad, la alegría, la concentración o la distracción, se convierte casi en una obsesión cuando asisto a estas fiestas.

Hello hivers. I love going to traditional, folkloric and popular celebrations, and even more since photography has become one of my hobbies hehehe. So connecting with the energy of the event, getting lost in the crowd and looking for the faces of amazement, enjoyment, complicity, joy, concentration or distraction, becomes almost an obsession when I attend these parties.

Estas fotos, a pesar de estar en formato monocromático, están llenas de colores, colores que quizás no se ven pero que se sienten. Capturé estos rostros durante el encuentro de cofradías de la fiesta de San Juan, algunos eran rostros de protagonistas, otros, de simples espectadores, y yo, un curioso duende con cámara en mano que se mezclaba con ambos jejeje. These photos, despite being in monochrome format, are full of colors, colors that may not be seen but that are felt. I captured these faces during the meeting of brotherhoods of the festival of San Juan, some were faces of protagonists, others, of simple spectators, and I, a curious elf with a camera in hand that mixed with both hehehe. Sin tambores no hay fiesta de San Juan / There's no San Juan festival without drums

El sol abrasador, el pegajoso ritmo de los tambores, la contagiosa alegría de los cantos y la música, la gente que va y viene, se sientan a descansar un rato, se ríen, conversan, algunos se unen al baile, aplauden y festejan al santo con gran devoción, mientras que los rostros de otros, son captados por la cámara de mi teléfono en los momentos de menor expresividad pero mayor introspección.

The scorching sun, the catchy rhythm of the drums, the contagious joy of the songs and music, the people coming and going, sitting down to rest for a while, laughing, talking, some joining in the dancing, applauding and celebrating at the saint with great devotion, while the faces of others are captured by my phone's camera in moments of less expressiveness but greater introspection.

Con cada cofradía que va entrando a la plaza con sus colores, sus vestidos, sus canciones y el pequeño altar para honrar al santo, llegan nuevos rostros que fotografiar, nuevas emociones por capturar.

With each brotherhood that enters the square with its colors, its dresses, its songs and the small altar to honor the saint, new faces arrive to photograph, new emotions to capture.
