Shooting Ghosts
Back in 2023, we spent a couple weeks retracing Route 66 in search of the American Dream. Never did find it, just lots of ghosts of past American Dreams.
Lots of ghosts generally. As Utah Phillips said "the past didn't go anywhere, it's still right here."
Sometimes a little worse for the wear. Could almost hear the sounds of the baby rattlers for sale.
Santa Fe is prime ghost country. The ghosts of colonizers past, present, and future haunt the mountains there.
Cadillac Ranch, that mechanical monument to the American Dream, is a holy place. Here the humans pay homage to ancestral American Dreams amid the devotional offerings of spray paint and litter.

Such pictures can be made with a lot of time and effort and each picture has its own story and is much more interesting.
