Getting Obliterated At The Art Museum
Sundays are always good days for shooting Speed. Plus the Speed is free on Sundays, so how can you say no to that?
We weren't here just to shoot the Speed though, we were here to get obliterated. Self-obliterated that is, it was the opening weekend for the Yayoi Kusama's Let's Survive Together Infinity Mirrored room.
Apparently it's the first time a Kusama work has been on view here in Kentucky and the place was asses and elbows. And old ladies shoving. You only get ninety seconds inside the room, so even with timed tickets you got folks lined up.
The line doubled and then doubled again in the hour we were waiting to get in. Usually when I'm getting obliterated there's a lot less waiting and a lot more liquor. Still, when we finally got our turn on the stopwatch it was worth it.
Step right in to the visual cacophony! It was really something, mirrored everything with infinite reflections in all directions. Took'em a month just to set it all up.
Are you obliterated yet? Was having a ball and then the door opened and they told us our ninety seconds were done. Was going to stage a sit-in protest to Free The Glutens but then security got mentioned and it just didn't seem worth it.
Couldn't do the Speed and not stop by and pay our respects to Breonna. It's been four damn years and there's still no damn justice in this town.
Thanks!
The infinite reflections that the mirrored balls create is mesmerizing!
Also very cool that Sunday's are free.
That room was so cool, we're definitely going back :D
You have some amazing shots here. I love it!
Thank you! That Kusama room was amazing, there's so many fun shots to be had from there, just need a few more 90 seconds. Have you gotten to see any of Kusama's work?
Unfortunately not, that's why I was amazed, when I saw your photos.
Your shots are really great and I love them a lot
You had a nice time at that museum
We did, it was fun.
Thanks!
Damn the mirrored room looks so awesome. I wish we had more installations like that here where I'm at
It was so amazing. It was the first time anything like that had come to town, which might explain the line. Which neck of the woods are you in?
That's 90 seconds well used for sure. I applaud this obliterated thing, and of course, the art.
Thank you for sharing!
Congratulations. Today's #monomad first place is yours.
Thank You very much for participating and for being part of the Black And White Community!
