Hello there, black-and-white photography lovers!

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

Before going to the narrative fiction workshop I'm attending, I went for a stroll around downtown. There's always something interesting to shoot. As the places kept showing, they brought back memories of thing I have done on the past.

Among a statue, houses of culture, a town's square, a church, and ruins, it was a pleasant walk. There's a charm on the streets that reeks of history and events.

Bolivar Square didn't use to be so flat. But they decided to change when the city celebrated it's 500th anniversary. There's the Ateneo of Cumana, one of the houses of culture that's quite an old building. I remember going there to rehearse with the choir for years.

The church and the statue are both memories of the Catholic school. I took my first communion in Santa Inés Church and I was a student at the school of the order that venerates Virgin Mary under the advocation of Virgen del Carmen. Not like I believe in any of that nowadays.

The ruins of the Government Palace are there waiting for something to happen. The guy who burnt it was both Mayor of the City and then Governor of the State. That's not even funny.

Ok the other side, we have the house of the poet Andrés Eloy Blanco. There's always lots of people around since it's next to the government office. And lastly, I found this door that resembles the whole city, a structure that barely hags on to something.

There's even more thing to show around town and maybe I'll bring them around sometime soon

Fotos en el centro

¡Buen día, amantes de las fotografías en blanco y negro!

Antes de comenzar las clases en el taller de narrativa de ficción al que assito los martes, me fui de paseo por el centro a tomar algunas fotos y recordar cosas.

Las calles de la ciudad tienen un aroma que da a recordar muchas cosas. Es que ya van más de 500 años de historias y seguro hay mucho para decir. Me pregunto qué dirían si pudieran hablar. ¿Qué contarían una estatua, una iglesia, una plaza, casas de la cultura y unas ruinas?

La Plaza Bolívar no era tan plana, pero decidieron cambiarla para los 500 años con este estilo parecido a un bulevar. En una esquina está el Ateneo de Cumaná, una casa antigua dónde fui por años a ensayar con el coro sinfónico por las tardes.

La iglesia y la estatua, me traen recuerdos de la escuela católica. Fui estudiante en Nuestra Señora del Carmen y en la iglesia Santa Inés tomé mi primera comunión. No es como que crea en algo de eso en esos días.

Las ruinas del Palacio de Gobierno siguen ahí esperando a que algo pase con ellas. La persona responsable por su estado actual fue Alcalde de Cumaná y Gobernador del estado. Parece chiste, pero es anécdota.

Del lado opuesto, está la casa del poeta Andrés Eloy Blanco. Un lugar que siempre tiene personas al frente porque está al lado de la gobernación. Por último, esta puerta es como un reflejo de Cumaná: una estructura que pende de un hilo y que el tiempo va transformando.

Hay muchos más lugares que capturar en la ciudad y espero traerlos pronto.
